Early this morning I decided I would try out my insert for the first burn for the season, I had bought three bags of Pennington Pellets at Lowes and I wanted to see if I like them.

As you can see it is burning the Penningtons so far so good.

No I could not sleep, Saturday I worked in the yard all day and came in took a shower and went to sleep watching tv, I then got up went to bed and slept for about 3 hours and was wide awake, so I played around with the stove until it got light enough outside, then I was back out worked in the yard again all day today.

LOL that is not Jakethepup in front of the fireplace Jake is a Collie.

lemme know how those sierras work... we came close to getting some last yr during the pellet stove crisis of 08

Summit,

I’ve had this stove for over a year now and I wish I could give the stove a great review but here are the facts.

Let me state that the dealer where I purchased the stove is a dub so I got zero help from him when the stove needed repair. But the technical support at Sierra is great and helped me troubleshoot any problems I had and sent parts out and they were received within a week. I just had to install the parts which was not very hard at all.

The Pro’s of this stove are it will burn any pellet you toss in there, it does not seems to care about any size of pellets and it has not jammed. The operation is very simple low, medium high settings, and has the option of adding a thermostat if desired. Easy to clean and maintain. It is 12 DC and you can easily connect a deep cycle battery to the stove, so when the electric goes out, the stove never misses a beat.

Con’s at least from my use. When installed it would not burn on any setting other than the low setting , the flue light would come on and it would turn itself off. Sierra sent me a new IC chip for the control board that corrected that problem. The blower motor stopped running, I had to put in a new set of brushes, again Sierra sent replacement brushes, I also installed these, again not a hard install at all. I had three igniters fail again Sierra sent replacements for these.

As you can tell the track record for at least for me the stove has been problematic and I would not choose this stove if I was going to use it for my main source of heat. Also the cost was way too much for what I would consider a high end pellet stove price for just the stove it was 3,200.00. I would be interested in the price the dealer quoted you on the same insert.

Summit if you would want any additional information just ask I will tell you all I know about the stove.

Is that a real Schnauzer, or a ceramic one? We used to have Miniature Schnauzers, very bright dogs and no shedding. Low maintenance pets rule!

That is a ceramic Miniature Schnauzer, I had one for 13 years, very smart dog great nature, and no shedding. The Dog I have now sheds like mad, I have 4 Irobots Vacs that run each day just to keep up with his pet hair.
