So I completed my Supervent install this weekend. I have a Jotul Oslo that was going through an 8 inch class A chimeny above the ceiling and through the roof. I finally replaced this with the Selkirk Supervent setup from Lowes. I thought the quality was good. I recommend you check all contents prior to purchase as the chimeny pipe can get dented easily. I purchased the flat ceiling kit and three lengths of 3 inch pipe. I of course grabbed a 10% coupon from the web. This made it quite affordable. The whole package cost $355 with tax. The roof flashing had the slots at the top which I wasn't thrilled about. I know Simpson does it differently (no slots, just gaps the top). I wonder if there will be any leakage in a hard rain. The roof pitch is about 4/12 so it shouldn't be too bad. I gave the top of the storm collar a bead of hi temp silicone.

Nice job. Doesn't the code require a exterior roof brace support of some sort when above 4' on the roof?

I just thought I would mention it.

No he is good since he only bought 9" of pipe. what is sticking out of the roof is all done with smoke and mirrors.

looks great and if you got the same kit I did then your cap has no screen in it to clog up

WOW can you give me some help on how you did such a nice job installing the flashing? is there sealer uunder it? how you get the shingles all over it all nice liek that?

Thanks for all the nice comments!!! The instructions state that you can go 5 feet above the roof unsupported (guy bracing). I am at about 6 feet which includes the cap. It's pretty stable. The wood stack is my holzhaufens. That's a technique of stacking wood I found on the web and here at hearth.com. It fits a lot of wood!! Each is about 5 feet in diameter and 6 feet tall. I did try a 6 foot diameter but that had a collapse so I went down to 5. My neighbour is a roofer so he helped me do all the flashing and the shingles. Everything laps very nicely. There is some roofing cement between the flashing and the roof sheathing (only at the top). I told my neighbor, "Wow, you make this look easy!!" He said, "Roofing is simple. That's why I do it. Over, under, over, under, over, under."

Your install looks just like mine! Only cleaner....

The roof flashing won't leak in the rain....I did mind and we have had some downpours with no problem...

thanks guys! did you guys use nails to secure your flashing to the roof or screws? adn did you put any sealant under the flashing itself?

clutch25-How funny!! Right down to the high temp silicone.

greythorn3-I used nails on the top. On the sides, I nailed at the edge so the head would hold the flashing in place. There is roofing cement between the flashing and the roof sheathing.

Hi Guys, can you post pictures from the inside? What type of stove pipe did you use? Brand?

I'm planning to use the same Selkirk kit that Lowes sells but will be using Simpson single wall stove pipe from Home Depot, I'm not sure if I'll have trouble in the conection of the Simpson single wall to the Supervent stove adapter.

Thanks... Valentin

I actually like the metal fab brand pipe for the inside. I will post pics when mine is all up. I had to order some new parts.

Thanks for your help, again...Valentin

Nope...it just looks like that. The black pipe is double walled stuff from Menards but it is selkirk too.

The whole install is per the directions to the letter...save for a bunch of cussing and dropped screws etc...

I'm thinking Fargo or Bismark.

Yep, Fargo....

You are about on point for the "rush hour".... We have it pretty easy for traffic around here!

Lots of rain here and no leaks. Very pleased!!! Monday the last parts for the interior single wall black pipe arrive. Wish I could burn this weekend. Oh well.

man i wish my shingles could look that good, i went to the home depot and couldnt find the clear this time, so will probably be using the same stuff u got since i already got a tube of that.

Those other two roofs look really good!

Mine is a joke! 3 layers! I could kill the idiot who thought that was a good idea!

what do you mean 3 layers?

Well, my shingles are only a month old. Lots of hail damage around here. Insurance companies don't bat an eye at hail damage claims here.
