Feeling the Heat

Just opened a bag of stovechow from a ton I purchased from HD. I noticed the color is a deep dark brown. Also the length of these are pretty long. Most are 1- 1 1/2 long and there are alot that touched 2 inches. They break very easy so I am hopefull this wont cause an auger jam.I will find out over night and report back.Anyone else out there that bought this brand this year and noticed the sbove?

I bought Stove Chow from the HD and had to take about 8 bags back. Apparently HD had them outside in their garden area and were not covered properly. They had dried up already but there was more fines in there than Id care to put near my stove. To your question, I did notice that there were very long pellets in there. I found myself breaking the more visible ones due to the same concerns you had.

I haven't tried Stove Chow since before the first time Home Depot put them out of business. I had no idea they were back. They sucked back then, hopefully they are better now, but with HD pushing them, it's doubtful.

i bought 3 tons from depot a few weeks ago, the bags look brand new, there is a lot of dust when i dump them but not many fines in the bottom, just really dusty
they look, smell, and feel exactly like the energex i had last year, except some of them are a little lighter or have lighter flecks mixed in, i dont have any over 1 1/2"

they burn hot! i am getting higher temps than any brand i tried last year
they burn clean, little to no clinker, dirty glass is marginal
but they burn FAST
i dont have actual times yet to compare, but i know they are going fast, i will do it soon to compare to another brand from last year
i am worried that i may blow thru them too fast, but the added heat will be great

Very impressed with the stovechow pellets from HD.
Heat output 230-250 degrees, ash alot let and softer than the Fireside Ultras, almost zero residue and dust in the bottom of bags.Very little if any fines,
I am very happy with these and at 229-249 a ton depends when you bout them they are very good.
