does anyone know what that error message means? I just started up the 1year old Mt Vernon, it started fine but then shut off and the computer screen says "Conv Blower Over I" (I cleaned and painted it last year). Guess I will call the HB Plumbing guys tomorrow, they installed it, but I sure would like to know what anyone else thinks, thanks all.

Well the good thing is it is still under warranty. Hope your dealer is knowledgeable about these stoves. Worst case is a control board issue, best case a loose wire. You need to get your service guy out to look at it. If you turn the power off and back on can you get the stove to operate?

the error message doesn't go away, looking to see how to go beyond that and shut it down and turn it on again ...

the only way to clear an error is to unplug the stove for a few minuets and let it clear its self. the only error i know of is for the convection blower is conv blower jam

Right, that's all I saw listed in the error code explanations, hence the thread here, so mysterious, eh? I did try the suggestion to unplug, let it sit a few mins, then plug it in again and let it run it's course - it has fired up as if nothing was the matter, but I am monitoring it to see what it does next, I will report here for those interested. Thank you everyone for stepping up and helping through a point of confusion!

11:00 pm and running well as far as I can tell, has reached temperature and is shutting down normally and I will post if it does anything wrong overnight. I will also discuss the issue with installer and report on that conversation later.

Maybe, as GVA said, that "I" indicated a current overload, due to the blower being "stuck" from sitting all summer? Then, when you let it sit and tried again, it broke loose and is running normally.

There have been other situations on the forum of people just having to "nudge" a blower or motor a little after it sat for a long time.

Hope that's all it was....good luck!

EDIT: When you painted, did you get near the blowers?

- I agree that blower may have simply been "stuck", because this morning it is running fine and all is toasty, other readers will be glad to know that it may be able to resolve itself with a "plug/outlet/nudge".
- When I painted, all I did was take out the fire back and brush and paint it outside and nowhere near the rest of the unit, did not paint any of the inside of the firebox.
- Thanks again, now to get the Kohler generator to behave, lol!

Thanks GVA, macman, et alios, it looks like you all hit the nail on the head. I have not brought the matter up yet with installer/vendor but will when I see them next week, and for now I am satisfied since the stove is running like it ever did, nice and toasty!

I'm surprised a quad dealer hasn't responded to this thread..
Must be a un common error.
Good to hear all is warm..... Let us know what you're dealer says

I would love to hear from a quad dealer here. I am complacent since the unit is working as it should, and I am confident in my dealer/installer, a well-regarded locally owned and operated hvac type business in my own town (HB Plumbing and Heating in Springfield, Vermont - http://hbplumbingandheating.com) but still it would be nice (and appropriate) for any other Quadrafire dealer to step up and give some statement.

OK, the dealer agrees with the "unplug and then re-plug and see how it goes" method of checking the unit - he said that had it continued to display that code, then indeed that would indicate a defined problem that would call for opening the unit and all that, but that since it is running normally it very likely does not need that level of maintenance and he recommends against opening it at this time. He did recommend I open the panel, visually inspect what is accessible and vacuum what I can reach in there, but he is confident that the unit is fine, and I am satisfied with his and your all opinions. The MT Vernon is doing fine again. - just for the record, it is burning canadian softwood pellets, they start up with a pale transparent blue smoke, then after burning begins I do not see any smoke at all, I am way pleased with them in contrast to the hardwood pellets last year.
