Hey all, just wondering how long a 40lb bag usually lasts you? I am averaging 5 days to a bag during this time of year, Im sure that will change as the temps drop. I am running my Breckwell P21 sporadically as needed, meaning when the house dips to 67 or so. Just wondering!!

I set the stove to 70 then fill hopper. I don't count bags. If the family is warm I am happy. :)

I cant really say for sure ,but I would guess 1 bag -2bags aday when really cold the hopper on my st croix is huge and will fit atleast 2 bags,I just top it off before and after wotk and let it go.I will use about 5ton a season.

1/2 a bag per day now, and then again in early spring.

Up to 1.5 bags in the coldest parts of winter.

Running Big E, keeping house in the upper 60 to low 70s.

half bag a day right now 3/4 to 1 bag when the snow flys and it gets cold

Less than 1/2 a bag per day now, I will use up to 2 bags in the coldest parts of winter. House temps kept in the upper 60 to low 70s.

2000sqft. and Total usage is 3.5 to 4 tons total!

Right now, I'm going through about 1/2 a bag a day, in the winter I use about 1 bag a day, however on super cold days last year. in 24 hours I've already burned or at least put 3 bags in, whatever that tells ya...

I have two pellet stoves. I use the one in the basement (Harman P-38) 24/7 once the temps outside are in the 30's or below. I use one bag/day on average.

I also have a Whitfield Advantage upstairs on our first floor but don't run this until temps are in the 20's. Again, I probably use one bag per day on average.

Overall with two stoves, I only burn 2 tons/year but it does not get that cold here in Cincinnati.

My stove is entirely manual, so I set up a spread sheet and record start and stop times. Last winter it burned for 1600 hrs and used 51 bags for a usage of 31.37 hrs/bag. I always run it on the lowest setting.

I use @ half a bag a day now and @ 1 bag a day in the middle of winter. I use @ 4.5 to 5 tons a season to heat 2500sqft. I keep the hous in the low to mid 70s

For those burning 5 tons or so that roughly amounts to $1250 dollars a season. Compared to $500 a month for Gas or Oil, pellets is a great deal. We were spending close to $600 a month to keep our 2500sf house at 68. I am currently using that savings to purchase an additional more efficient stove to put in my garage that i am currently finishing to make a home theater. this will give us an additional 500sf.

Burned about 2.5 tons between Jan 20 this year (when when took delivery and had it installed) and late April when I shut down for the season. In the dead of Febrary when it was 0F, I was burning 2 bags a day heating ~1500 sf. Haven't started yet for this season. Thinking about it tonight or tomorrow. I was trying to hold out until November 1, but winter seems to have come early.

My insert goes through about 1/2 a bag now if it burns 24/7 and 1 to 1.5 bags when it gets cold. House stays 72-73 and 68 out back. Furnace is set to come on just long enough each day to keep the pipes from freezing....

we'll fire up later this month and start at 1/2 bag or so per day. We will burn close to 2 bags per day once cold weather hits.

Same here. Burned 2 bags a day when it was really cold. Too many factors to consider, house size, insulation, what temp you like to keep your house at etc. You'll see lots of idfferent answers.

I have a cheap ussc king ashly 5500xl in the basement. My stove burns 2.5 tons. At 35F I can heat my house to 72F. I run the stove mainly at night or when I'm home. In the winter upstairs I have a wood insert in my fireplace. The pellet stove heats my basement and the floor in the winter.

Its been about 15F up here in northern alberta.... burning about a bag a day... between low and medium settings in my Sante Fe.
Im anticipating 1.5-2 bags a day in the -22 to -40F weather.
