Has anyone heard of this brand of pellets? Anyone ever burn these? I can't find any info on the web about these. Any info helpful. Thanks

This is my first year and I bought 4 tons of Spruce Pointe pellets from a place in Leominster, MA. I have only burned about 15 bags, but all seems to be good at this point. Being my frist year with a pellet stove, I really don't have anything to compare them to. Let me know what you think after you burn a few bags.

Autually was afraid to buy them as I couldn't find any info on them and 100% softwood. I have been burning penningtons nature's heat 100% oak and have had good luck with them. Burned about 5 bags with about 1 cup of ash. My first year, too. Pellets kind of scarce here right now.

This is my third year with a pellet stove and the normal brand of pellets I buy is Energex. Energex pellets are also softwood, but produce a lot of heat. I bought a couple of bags of spruce point just to try them out and so far so good. They seem just as hot if not hotter than the Energex, have a lower fines content, and seem to produce less ash. The only issue is that they don't have a pleasant smell, but I can deal with that.

These are great pellets. I have a Harmon PF 100 furnace. Last year i used Home wood, Spruce points are 10 miles down the road from what im told. they are pretty much the same. just a different packing. I have spruce point this year they are the same as the home wood.Plus when they reopen there plant here in maine they will be that much more cheaper. Next to no clinkers like you get with hard wood. I have used Luzan's they are all hard wood. alot of cleaning. last year i used 4.5 ton cleaned my burn pot 3 times. with the hardwood i needed to do it every 2 weeks.

Why as a matter of fact they are in alberta ca. Just relaying info from my dealer. He was the only one in the area with homewood for a few years. then the owner of the patriots started a plant in strong me. spruce point. my guess is like a franchise. unfortunatly the the strong plant had explosion and wont be back on line till around feb 2010. so untill then he is getting them form alberta.

Its not a franchise. Spruce Pointe Pellets is produced by Vanderwell Contractors in Slave Lake, Alberta Canada. They are a softwood lumber producer who added a pellet mill to their plant. They are located across the street from the mill I work at.
