Holy heating machine, Batman!

So I finally ponied up the money for a blower to put on the 30-NC. We made it through last year using it to heat 2500sf, but I was sort of wanting more. I have a hearth install that is a tight fit, so I bit the bullet and pulled the beast out, but the blower on, installed a full block-off plate at the lintel, and stuffed her back in there. There is just barely enough room to get one arm in behind the stove to replace the liner, so it was a serious chore.

Fast forward to this morning. I was too tired and frustrated last night to mess with a fire, so I cleaned up and went to bed. Things are cooling down here, into the low 30's at night from time to time, and the house was a balmy 60 degrees this morning. I got a fire going, built a coal bed, loaded the Englander up, got it nice and charred and started to dial things back a bit. Inside of 30 minutes I'm at 500 degrees on the stovetop and plugged in the fan.

Good lord!. 30 minutes after that I'm thinking I need to look a little more into my new problem - keeping the 30x30 living room below 80!

Don't struggle with it any more - buy one. Honest. The noise level on high isn't too bad. You know its there, of course, but I can't see the need to crank up the volume on the TV or having to raise my voice to have a conversation. The stove with blower off functions exactly the same as it does without the blower. Just do it!

Sure it does. You wait to turn it on until the stove is rocking pretty good, and turn it off when the temps come back down below nuclear. Benefit? My wife is forced to watch TV naked, where before she would generally do so in a pair of pajama pants and T-Shirt. This is, of course, after the kids go to bed.

Oh - and yeah it was optional.
