I had a few bags get wet in my basement a few years back. It was just moisture from the concrete floor. No standing water. I now have them 2" off the floor. Strips of 2x4's and 3/4 plywood over the top. I also stapled a moisture barrier on the down side of the plywood. Just in case!

If wil has a moisture barrier between the floor and the pellets he should be good to go!

My plan this year was to erect one of those $1100.00 carports in front of my shop and store 4 tons of pellets on skids. I have a forklift that needs a little work to get running so I need to get my a## in gear and get it fixed (a $285.00 Ebay buy BTW).

But the trucking biz was so bad (especially with my truck being down after hitting that drunk illegal) that I don't have the $$$ for the carport. So I store 50 bags in my porch onext to the stove and I'm buying one ton at a time... no pellet shortage here in Wisconsin.

I just re-pile 'em on other pallets, then stand the pallets back up out of the way in the summer. To each his own I guess.

Prior to installing the floor in my shed, I used to use pallets to stack pellets on, still could I guess, certainly not a bad thing to do. I'm now burning pellets that have been in my shed for over a year, I have seen no issue with the bottom 5 bags that were on the floor, these would be the only ones that could possibly have an issue. Actually, if you think about it, even if they were stacked on pallets, each course is blocking the air flow to another.

Mine are delivered right into my garage. My wife and I bring them in the house on a cart until the snow comes, then we drag them in on a plastic sled. We pull in 8 to 10 bags when the weather is good so there are no trips out when it is very cold. We didn't anticipate doing this in our retirement, but then how could we ever anticipate the twist and turns in the economy. Just trying to stay one step ahead instead of being stepped on. Had a ton left over from last year. We are burning those first. They seem to be just the same as the ones from the first bag we opened last year. By the way, we are grateful for all the helpful advice found in this forum.

I can't believe it I am sitting here looking a pictures of piles of pallets .Retirement is scary ,next thing you know I will be building a pellet vacuum cleaner . I think I
have an addiction starting . Not only that but I am thinking about where I could put another ton . I am a re stacker ,so far I have only one ton ,I have some in the garage and the rest in my storage building . I really don't have room for more . I don't have any pictures either ,I am not that far gone yet .

Restack - 5 tons in basement

I have the delivery service place 4 tons next to my house. I have a pellet tarp which I use to cover the one that I open. I take 8 bags out at a time and have them in a wheel barrel in my garage. I'm working hard to touch the bags once.

Had 5 ton delivered this spring in the garage. Been working on getting them all downstairs all summer. The kids know you do not go downstairs empty handed! Of course Dad seems to be the only one following that rule! My wife has a 39 pound limit she says, so that rules out her help with those dam 40 pound bags!!

Wow and to think I thought my wife was the only one with the 39LB rule, well atleast I'm not alone....haha

When they are not looking. Tinker with the bathroom scale. "But honey they only weigh 38lbs."

Might work?

I married a farm girl, She can throw hay bails around. So not an issue for me, Just have to remind her to toss them gently.
