Whats an MP 211 install?? people at the stove shops are referring to a block off plate as an MP 211 install. Is this a building code? I have done some searches on it and found nothing?
Another question on block off plates. What kind of material should be used. I have seen some nice installs on this web site and sheet metal (what kind?) is being used. I thought galvanized sheet metal in a chimney was a no no, because of the gas it can give off. Is everyone using non galvanized sheet metal or stainless steel ????
Last question, would you cut out the damper in the chimney??? I'm installing a wood burning stove. however, if you were to install a gas stove, or a pellet stove, will having the damper removed cause a install problem???
The stove shop is saying that I could leave the damper in and use some oval flex pipe from the ridged chimney liner through the damper and back to round pipe to attach to the stove. This sounds like a hassle. Would you cut the damper out for your install????
