I replace the running with beer. Lots and lots of beer. Has the same effect of getting me all loose and stuff.[/quote]

Ahhh that is my method of medication also, a single delicious craft brew followed by too many more affordable tasty cans.

Hey, I'm not too far from Doylestown and I've got a 6x10 trailer with fold up rear gates that work great for rolling large rounds onto without lifting them. I'd be glad to help you for a small wood donation. :) The trailer bed isn't nearly as high up as a trucks' bed so you just walk onto it. PM me if you're interested.

I'll keep you in mind!

Just an update. I am almost done bringing in the first pile of wood. The uncut stacks comes out to about 4 cords (4ft long logs stack 6ft high in a 22ft long row) . The pile next the pile I just brought home is about twice the size. And then there are 6-8 piles that are half the size of what I just brought back.

So, my current estimate is:
Pile 1: 4 cords
Pile 2: 6-7 cords
Piles 3-8 (?): 1 cord each. Total of: 6-8 cords

Total Estimate: 16-18 cords.

Best 200 bucks I've spent in a long time. Once all of it is brought over I will have 5 years worth of wood (combined with what I already have), including this winter.

Wow! Now that's a nice haul! Sounds like you're ahead of the game for awhile.

Depending on what exactly is the causing your back pain I would recommend you substitute stretching instead of high impact running for the time being. Be more deliberate in lifting the heavier rounds...think it threw. Keep your back straight and bend with your knees. You've got a real good score there with the 14 cords for $200 so good luck staying healthy.

Good to hear this is working out for you. I look forward to the pics & take care of the back. I was done Saturday morning (no stacking). So I went Monday and picked up another trailer load from another spot. I think I am crazy, but happened to meet the owner of an aborist company. Great guy and a good friend of my brother, he now has my number & knows where I live so he can call anytime he is in the area cutting trees! He thought it was really great that I would be willing to take them 18' long so his crews do not have to cut them up as much.

My wife is now convinced I am not wired quite right.

Any way to split it before you have to handle it 4 or 5 times?
I too have lower back disc issues, hard work just does that.
Trust us when we say, don't abuse the back, because once the disc is blown, it doesn't get better with age, it just always hurts.
If you can, set up the splitting at the source.
Get some beer & promise your buddies a fire, hot dogs, pizza & beer at the end of the day.
Asking for help from friends, is a sign of respect to them. Don't you feel good when someone asks for you help?
Solve the worlds problems standing around a fire, drinking beer in the evening. A great "male bonding" thing.
PS: have a designated driver for those that may need it.

I can see it now, Big party at BrowningBAR's, Wood splitting contest, 6 pack of Coors t the winner. Bring the kids, hot dogs & smores. Wives are the designated drivers.

Just an idea to make it fun.
Excellent score by the way
