BTW, one of the best threads yet. I do have one more "extreme saver" idea. Drop the cable and dish subscriptions. Go part amish and put an antenna on the roof. Only get a couple of channels now. No more CNN! I do get a couple of stations out of canada. They're much funny!

gotta give CNN credit for the Balloon Boy scoop - Wolf Blitzer really showed courage grilling a six year old and the kooky old man - wonder how much they paid for that interview!

We're all backwoods hicks, I guess.
Next CNN will report that we still drink water from the taps.
"Rural residents can't afford Evian", they will say.
It's a mad mad mad mad world....

You guys have given me a lot of good ideas. Thank-you.
I have a pair of caveman boots,
no snaps, buckles, buttons, zippers or velcro. I hold them on
with a skinny piece of animal skin.

Crazieness, next thing you'll say is we're drinking water straight out of the ground! UGHHH ) Oh yeah, don't let 'em know how we get rid of our toilet water!

Check out the "Green" forum for even more incredible ideas about ... growing your own food ...

Regarding TV - I refuse to pay for cable. We got a coupon for a free converter box, but have yet to remove it from its package - have watched zero network TV since they went digital!

Yeah, no direct tv here either. We do watch tv and movies online though, so I guess we don't get in the extreme club.
Oh, wait. We get our eggs from the chickens out back and put 'em in regular egg cartons to help us THINK they came from the grocery store.
Whew, that was close.
I want my EXTREME badge & t-shirt now.

Dave

What a bunch of America-hatin' commies you all are... Free stuff, what is this, a socialist state?

Seriously though, you can save lots of money, but if you are wanting to get a job (and I know that's not an easy thing), you may be better diligently searching than clipping coupons....

How about we clunk a few of those CNN folks heads together and see what sound we get so we can determine if there seasoned enough yet

I'd be so extreme they'd really freak:

Then again people don't necessarily make their own beer to save money.

As BrotherBart so eliquently put it in a previous post:

"I don’t think I have ever saved a dime heating with wood. I just do it because I want to. I am still making mortgage payments on every tree I have cut on this place for the last 25 years plus the labor and equipment costs. But we like to be warm."
