Lowes Running Pellet Special Again

Makes sense...HD re-started their pellet sale, so Lowes has to follow......competition is a good thing!

I have seen pellet prices coming down a bit since the colder weather got here. I was in my TSC this morning and they were selling Maine Premium (I think, tan bag) for $250/ton. This is down about $30-$50 from this spring and over the summer. It seems that everywhere I go now they have pellets for sale. I stopped for gas at a local Sunoco station in Central VT and even they were selling wood pellets! $5.97/bag.

my local HDs don't have any promo, still $247 a ton.

Went to the Lowes by where i work and they are not giving any discount per ton at all just what the per bag price is.

was at lowes in worcester mass over the weekend they were $269.00 per ton

Lowes in Rochester NH tonight....still 269/ton, no discounts. Still at least 30 tons outside.

I stopped at Lowes in Torrington, CT. $4.94 a bag was the only sign I saw.

Well, I just checked with my neighborhood Lowe's. Ain't no flippin' sales out here. I caught the sales manager in a pleasant mood. He said they were trying to hold the line, but even the pallet load at contractors price wasn't going to cut it. They are already selling below cost including shipping because of the low price competition, four plants within 75 miles. But. they are a buck-twenty below last year at $4.48 per bag. I won't buy any, don't want to store them over the Summer.

God bless America...when other countries do to the States we call that "dumping" and the government and whole industries cry blue murder...but when we do it to ourselves we wonder why we have more unemployment in this country. Sure makes it hard for small business to compete when the big boxes sell below cost....just a thought.....

I need to clarify. The cost is the price per ton plus shipping. The shipping this year was so high, to make their standard margin they would have had to at least maintain last years price. Because there is so much stock available, closer sources are making money at a lower price because they are not paying the huge shipping bill. Lowe's is smart, lose a little on each bag and not keep the price up and have them at the end of the year. Farmer's and manufacturers do this all the time. It's not dumping, it's taking the loss as easily as possible. Nex year it will be real different.

No chrystal ball. I do have a very shiny piece of wormy buckeye. That's a joke for all you taking things too seriously this evening. I think there are lots of producers sitting on large inventories. Several things could happen. They could all be sold to foreign buyers and never seen again. They could be reprocessed and made into some other products like press board or Ikea furniture. They could result in the forced closing of some plants and investments gone up the stack. I have no idea, but it may also bring the price more in line with the demand.

Of course, seems like some right here are stocked ith enough for a few years. Add to this a mild Winter and it all becomes a crap shoot. Unlike the last major correction in the market, we as consumers may get the break. I would not advise buying pellet futures, regardless.

MY LOWES ARE SELLING PELLETS FOR 269 A TON. I THINK THEY ARE SELLING PLOTOMACS,ECO FLAME,AND CORAN(PLAIN WHITE BAG,JUST SAYS WOOD PELLETS IN BLUE LETTERS NOTHING ELSE ON THE BAG?) ANYBODY EVER BURN ANY OF THESE PELLETS? THANKS.

I burnt the potomacs but not the other ones I did not like the potomacs at all.
