Feeling the Heat

I'm so insulted! I'm sitting here working (OK, I'm surfing Hearth.com, but she thinks I'm working on the computer) and my wife got up and put a blanket on! I asked if she was cold and she said YES! OMG!!!!! The stove is at 425F and has been running low and slow all day.

What gives?

I just put it together... We had pork for dinner. I think she has swine flu!

"My wife just put a blanket on!!"

So is this a good, or a bad thing? j/k lol

Might be time to shift gears and throttle that sucker up!!

Normal situation around here. Her recliner is 3 feet from the stove, yet she still will have a blanket on. I think it's a security thing.

Those cat stoves are no good i tell ya

It's 74 degrees in here but the wife looked cold so I asked her. She just frowned and rubbed her bare arm so I closed the window. Yesterday she complained it was too hot at 75.

"It is a gentle heat with soapstone and I can burn it low and slow with the cat. Heck, sitting three feet from my stove I need a blanket."

I thought the wife was supposed to be the thermostat. When she starts taking clothes off then the temp is just right ;-)

what's a wife ;)

Wives are always too cold or too hot, rarely are they just right

Maybe she wants some company? Or she needs her thyroid checked?

Oh man that one made me laugh out loud. TSH anyone?

It is 83 in my living room & she said ..."I'm sleepy" so she went to sleep upstairs to comfortable 68

btw it is 267 Kelvin outside

Now wait a minute inspector. It is warm in the house and a blanket comes out. For Heaven's sake man, can't you take a hint?! Perhaps it is not stove warmth she is looking for.

Just explain the BTUs of a blanket versus the BTUs of wood as you're feeding the blanket into the wood stove. A blanket which isn't burning makes ZERO BTUs. What a waste of BTUs!

we generaly keep our house around 75-80 now in the morning its usually around 70 before i get the wood furnace going strong again
my wife will sometimes get up out of bed and start complaining shes cold and i try to tell her that most people turn their thermostat down to mid 60 's

I wish it would get cold enough here to use a stove. Been in the low to mid 70's every day and the house never gets below about 67 degrees at night- havent even been running the heat pump. If it doesnt rain I should be ready with my new stove and chimney by the time its cold enough to use.

jdinspector,

You HAD to know in advance you would receive many serious and helpful responses to your original post!

I ain't never owned one of those things called a "wife" so I wouldn't know how to interpret the symbolism of a blanket going on or coming off. Uh Oh! Now I've done it! I have a sinking feeling the word "owned" will get me into a lot of trouble with some readers.

Best wishes,

John_M ;-)

Don't worry about "owned". At least for me, I don't let my wife read this forum, and if she did, I would deny, deny, deny. But if she wanted to read it, of course she could. (I put that in there in case she really does read this and is lurking- heck, she could actually be Brother Bart! Who knows?)

Frankly, I'm sure she didn't have any additional symbolism with putting a blanket on. She was cold. I guess 76 is too cold this time of year!
