Free Wood, Hamburg PA 19526

I will be clear cutting 1500'x 30' Hopefully ready for pickup Monday, December 7. I hired a tree removal service to drop everything and just leave it.

The area to be clear cut is about 1000' from a paved road through a flat field, however I believe a 4WD truck could drive there pretty easy. I walked it 48 hours after 1" of rain and it seemed pretty solid. Most of the trees are ash, and are mostly smaller 8"-12" diameter. I know it isn't big wood, but it's free. You'll have to limb it but you can take what you want and it is already on the ground and you should be able to drive right up to it.

I am also cutting a bigger area - 1000' x 70' with more bigger trees, however, there is a stream crossing involved and a lot of the area is wet. There is a lot more wood over there but admittedly it will be some work to get it out. There is a concrete bridge existing but it will take some work to figure out how to get over. Getting over is only half the battle - the wet ground on the other side will also be a big issue.

First come first serve. About 1 mile south of the Cabela's on at the junction of Rt 61 and I-78.

Just a reminder that this wood should still be ready to come get in 2 Monday's. I will be at deer camp until Thursday morning, so don't be worried if you PM me and I don't respond. I can give directions and give confirmation wood is down late next week.

WOOD IS DOWN

The wood is along Route 61, immediately south of the Hamburg Sewer Plant. If you are not familiar with the area it is the southeast quadrant of Route 61 and I-78. It is caddycorner (sp?) to Cabela's, although it is a good bit away. If you are from here you will know the area as the former Coke plant.

The entrance to the field is immediately next to the sewer plant. I recommend 4WD vehicles only. The area used to be a race track, I would advice driving on the old track for stability as much as you can. You have to drive 1000' or so across the field to get to the wood, but can drive right up to it. I walked it today, it really wasn't bad. A 2WD maybe OK, but you are probably 50/50 on needing help getting out.

Take as much or as little as you want. You'll have to cut off the branches, but all the trees are cut down.

There is a lot more wood south of the coke plant but access will be difficult at best. If you are interested in it, PM me and let me know how you think you will get it out. For now, please only get the wood between the creek and the sewer plant directly north of the sewer plant.
