Upper 30's....mostly sunny.....a great day to be outside getting work done on the 2011/2012 wood piles....

The other reason it was a great day to be outside is the fact that the wife was inside putting up Christmas decorations. She seems to suggest I am less than helpful when it comes to decorating. Odd....

Looks to me like you have put up some fine decorations.

yes, a fine day it was. i think your decorations fit the season well. your decorations fit any season well!!

Wow looks like fall still. Is it usually like that there this time of year or has it also been warmer than usual like us?

Nice relaxing setup you have going there.

North, almost every day of November has been above normal in Michigan. I have never seen a rifle deer season like we had this year. I've put the hunting clothing away now but I never once wore any of the heavy clothing; it simply was not needed.

Here, I have not even seen one snowflake yet. I don't recall that ever happening before. Now they say we are going to be back to normal though. No big snows forecast but snow showers and flurries pretty much all week after today.

November 28 was simply fantastic with the sunny skies. Around here we don't see much sunshine in November and December. The real cold usually set in around January 10; some years sooner but rarely later. As for snow, northern MI is usually well covered by now but southern MI takes a while yet and many years there is no white Christmas. I think we are somewhere around 80% white Christmas here and some as low as 70% chance. More northern has close to 100% chance.

Speaking of a white Christmas, here is a picture I took last year on Christmas Day.

That is our log splitter under the tarp between the wood piles.

Yeah, it's been a crazy warm Fall for us this year. The cold is just now starting to set-in this week. I see snow forecast for later this week but I'm betting nothing will stick yet. My splitting will be done for the year once we get snow. My Cub Cadet is not setup for hill climbing in winter...ha.

I'm a little east of Muskeeeegon, Inter. Just north of Grand Rapids....

My son and I worked next year wood all weekend just south of Gaylord, have hauled home all we need to burn downstate already. Was a dream weekend for working wood for sure.

Its been too wet and muddy in the eastern UP for me to get much done. Just got my wood stove put in my addition. But the 1/4 mile of driveway it put in is almost impassible now. Hopefully next time I go UP it will be colder and I can get in the woods and do some cutting. Glad you had a great time!
