the manual is optomistic. unless the hopper is completely empty it is impossible to get even 40lbs in it. I think the 45lb figure includes the feed system

The Quadrafire Castile insert is a beautiful machine. Heats nicely and looks gorgeous. If I had a wood burning fireplace, this is the insert for me. :coolsmile:

You really need to stuff the pellets in there, pack them toward the back and down. My folks have this model, it takes some doing but I can almost get a whole bag in now. 45lbs? Must be really small dense pellets!

Pack them back on the left side with your hand and then top it off. It will fit a full bag plus if you pack the pellets down.

I agree. you will have to push the pellets over to the left rear where they feed from. I usually just put a pail in at a time (about 12 pounds).
