Rooky Jotul F600 Question

The sticky damper control lever is common with the F 500 and F 600. I've had this problem for three seasons. I changed the lever and still had the same problem. Before taking it apart, get some powdered graphite or white grease in a spray can. Spray a small amount in the lever opening. I used grease and it has lasted for a couple of months so far.

I'm a fellow rookie with this stove and found something similar with mine only the reverse. I assumed that the air control lever should move completely to the right and left as defined by the scallop shell casting. In my case it did move all the way to the left, closed position, but not completely to the right - stopped at 2+ ridges in the shell to go. Dealer said that the control lever did not necessarily move the full width of the shell, but to remove the doghouse covering and check that the air limiting casting was moving as intended. This proved to be the case. Moved to the right, even with the two shell ridges remaining, the air opening was as wide as it could go. You may have a sticking problem, but I'm guessing you'll find that everything is working properly within the stove and that the handle just does not move the full width.

There are a couple of screws on the inside of stove to take the air control area apart. It may just need a simple cleaning of ash and some graphite powder, or a little filing. An installer once told me that some Jotuls had the cast in the control area stamped backwards and a minute of filing will help it slide smoothly. Mine was fine when we got it and I was told this was a problem Jotul quickly fixed. Good luck.
