This morning when I came down stairs If found my ash pan was FULL of smoldering pellets. apparently when I did my nightly scrape of the burn pot, I moved the pot out too far and all the pellets overnight went behind the pot and into the ash pan. I shut it down immediately and they are still smoldering (one hour later) all the fans are still running to clear out the fire chamber but I am worried that all that smoldering has done some damage of some sort. I am going to wait until it is completely out before I go to work and then clean it all out when I get home tonight. is there anything I should check before firing it back up?

Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Bill

If the pellets were just in ash pan smoldering you should be fine just make sure there out before you leave, and clean up when you get home like you stated.

That happened to me two seasons ago when I forgot to tighten the ashpan allowing an air leak, lazy flame, etc. The worst damage was a melted plastic handle on the ashpan.... clean the , fix the problem and you're set to go....

After cleaning everything out and making sure the burn pot is seated PROPERLY, the stove is back up and running (maybe even better than before).

Thanks for the re-assurance guys!

Bill.
