My first score!!

Got a call from a buddy last night who spotted some "nice wood" on the curb of a neighbors house. We headed over this morning to find a tree company on day 2 of felling some massive oak trees and they had a bunch of all bucked and ready to go. We asked and they were more than happy to let us take it off their hands! We filled up an F250 with 8' bed, dropped it off at my house then headed back in the afternoon for more but the guys said the owner wanted to keep the rest.

Oh well... It was still a bunch of beautiful oak and it was free. I'm not quite sure how much it is but I'm guessing close to a cord. We'll see when I get it all split and stacked.

I know it! The guy was much higher earlier on and it was amazing to watch him work his saw and maneuver around up there. Awesome stuff.

It really is beautiful stuff. High BTU's, heavy as heck and splits like butter. Only downside is you have to wait so long to burn it.

Also, I saw the pic of the climber and thought of the thread name. Assumed you were climbing for wood and thought, uh-oh.

Fun thread. Reminds me of my early wood vulturing days (have woodlot now). Vigilence, promptness, and opportunism are key virtues of the wood scavange.

We keep that truck up at work for whomever wants to use it, it's a beater. My boss owns property up in NH and they swap pickups between here and there so for the most part they just keep them registered up there.
