I had a Breckwell PFS28 for 13 yrs and after a couple of years of dumping 150+ into it and the fact that the faux brick panel inside had gone to crap and it was going to be another $175.00 for a new one, I decided to look around out of curiousity. When doing so I learned about the tax credits being offered and got excited. Ending up getting a new Harmon Accentra. It's like having a 1990 Ford Tauras and then getting a 2010 Honda Accord. What a difference so far. On the Breckwell you would have to clean daily and the glass would cloud up in about 12 hrs. With the Accentra the glass stays clean for several days and even after a week it is nowhere near as dirty as the Breckwell. The ash pan is only about a 1/4 full with 1/2 ton burned. I am burning Americas Best fir pellets made by Bear Mtn in Cascade Locks Or. I pretty much leave it on stove setting at 65 deg and the burn fead rate at 5. With the fan set at about mid way on the dial it keeps our 1400 sqft house at 73 degs when out side temps are around 37 deg. Only draw back is the small hopper capacity. Other than the small hopper we are happy campers.

Glad you're happy with the new stove.

But I'd venture to say that in 13 years the new 2022 stoves will make that Harman pretty obsolete, too. Keep us posted on how it's going...

Goducks,

Congratulations on your new Accentra and congrats on getting 13 years of heat from your former stove.

I wanted an Accentra last year, but the supply and delivery information was way too unstable.

Please post pictures, because as Macman says, " No pictures, it didn't happen".

Regarding the 1990 Tarus, the SHO was a fun car! :)

Regards,

Ranger

While that may be true, the Harmon is just built better to begin with as far as design is concerned.

careful, goducks! thats likely to provoke the harman-haters here!

Nice choice!

The Accentra is the stove that I`m favoring and contemplating at the moment.

I just bought a year old accentra last month for 2K. Its in terrific shape with a little rust inside from sitting this summer and a slight gap on the upper side left of the door when its closed..seals great, seems it might be the latch not being the greatest design..

In hindsight..... I could have got one brand new with the tax rebate for about the same... with a usable warantee/dealer in place.

Stove is unfired, but looks purpose built and I am very happy with it thus far- small hopper being only thing in question.

I'm not saying Harmon is better than the rest, just saying it's way better built than my old Breckwell was. I had to replace the burn pot every 3 years, replaced 2 circuit boards in the last 5 years and 1 igniter (which seemed normal) Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself thinking it's the bomb, but as far as maintenance, ease of use and control wise it's light years ahead of my old one. I guess well see 10 years from now.

We all don't hate Harmon just because they are over priced and break a lot.
