I opened my door and a small part of my window gasket is blackened and has a spark on it. Is this a bad thing. Now the piece that did this is a little fraid. Has anyone used hi temp silicon to seal around the window instead of a gasket?

I have an xxv with about 1 1/2 tons burned so far. I have soot on the outside of the door window on the glass. Smoke is obviously making it out through the space around the gasket. It bothers me a little but I never, ever smell any smoke no how furiously the stove is burning. I guess I was just going to ignore it until something that might be a problem appears. I have a buzz also so I thought I'd just ask the dealer about both when I get around to it. I'll be interested in other peoples' opinions. Good question.

I would not be concerned about the gasket having a bit of char on it, as long as it is sealing well. I would not recommend silicone, the stove was designed with the fberglass gasket, I would stick with that.
