I have burnt 40 bags so far in my Accentra and the ash pan is only 1/3 full, with about 2 cups outside of it on the bottom left as you are facing it. I usually have it set at 65% and mid way on the fan with about 4.5 on the feed rate. When I read that you could burn a ton of pellets without emptying the ash pan, I was skeptical. But I beleive it now. By the way I am burning Americas Best fir pellets made in Cascade Locks Oregon by Bear Mtn.

Some pellets the ash is very loose and light, it all flys out of the pot and goes out the vent or all over the inside of the stove. The ammount of ash you get in the pan can depends on the pellets.

sounds like pretty good pellets

I have burned Lignetics, barefoot, hammer, fireside ultra, stove chow, and a dozen more I havent mentioned and find it hard not to empty ash pan after 7 days or 14 or so bags. Some pellets I am full in 5 days. How is the heat output with those pellets?

I tried 5 bags of Bear Mountain last year and couldn't beleive there was (NO) ash. I am going this weekend to pickup a ton. My dealer is taking back 1/2 ton of Eureka that are terrible. They said they had a few complaints on the Eureka this year and contacted the company about it. They said I might have got a batch from the bottom of the pile, and I beleive that. There was a ton of ash and alot of sand, not to mention bark. Can't wait to get the new Bear Mountain and not have to clean my stove for a week.............

I tried the Eureka a few years back and liked them. You guys get spoiled with the good stuff out there! Hope someday Bear Mountain decides to move some out my way!!!!

Actually, last year the Eureka's I bought were great, thats why I bought them this summer. I think they just have a consistency problem and are fully capable of making excellent pellets. I have (never) heard a bad word about Bear Mountain................

Same here!

Thinkin' about it, I'm just as glad I can't get no good pellets. What would I do on the weekend if I didn't have to clean the stove. Probably have to take the Old Gray Mare shoppin', or to her mother's. I LOVE my Athens pellets.

Here in Central Maine we were burning LG's in our Harman P-61 last winter. Heat output was pretty good compared with horror stories from friends who were burning Maine hardwood pellets. We had to clean out the ashpan after every ton.
This year we are burning Okanagans and everything I'd heard about these Canadian softwood pellets is true. There's only one word I would use to describe the heat output--GRATIFYING! While were satisfied with the LG's(also Canadian softwood), the Okanagans burn much hotter and after 40 bags the ashpan isn't even close to half full.
I would love to buy locally made pellets from Maine but they cannot even come close to heating my home economically.

I'm gonna go out on a limb, here, and guess that you're "not from around here". Walcome aboard, anyway.

Burning America's Best and Goldenfire, both made by Bear Mountain (different plants?)
About 10 tons now, 4th season, Envirofire mini. Both are about $230/ton locally.
Pretty hot, minimum fines especially compared to a few bags of Pennington's
Nature's Best from Walmart I tested. The ashpan doesn't fill up very fast but
the passageways sure do, needs a vacuuming every 1/2 ton or ton then
a leaf blower gets a lot more after that.

Actually, Hoss, I was born in Maine 53 years ago and have never lived anywhere else. When the quality of Maine hardwood pellets goes up(and I believe it will), I'll be happy to make the switch.
