Hey fellow pellet burners. I've been on here for a almost 2 years now. Never got a chance to show my self install pics (new digital cam for Christmas).'08 Quad Mt Vernon AE,homemade hearth pad,Exel vent pipe horizontal through wall.
Thought I would combine a post with a question. Just clean out my stove and watched it fire up. It seemed that the igniter stayed glowing red for several minutes after a good flame was going. Is this normal. It seems to me that the igniter would last a lot longer if it would shut down as soon as the pellets ignite. I would assume the thermo couple is looking for a certain temp before it shuts down the igniter?

beautiful setup. unfortunately the igniters stay on a long time on the AE.

Yep, the ignitor on most stoves stay on longer than they need to most of the time, but I guess the design teams figure some extra time "tolerance" into the ignitor timing....just in case.

Nice looking install, btw. Is that a nice UPS, or surge suppressor next to it? Nice.

I have always thought the same thing about my ignitor. It could probably run 1/4 to 1/2 as long as it does during startup and not have a problem with pellets. Maybe other fuels are harder to ignite.

Thanks for the replys guys. Glad you liked the install. Macman, that is a ups/surge protector. However, it is only 600va. not enough to even start the AE. I use it mainly for surge protection and sometimes unplug it and use it for other things during a power outage. Working on a battery system as we speak.
