hi guys, happy new year! has anybody had their bottom fire brick break?how much are they and are they available?

One of my U blocks broke yes they are replaceable last I knew $65 each In a pinch normal fire brick will hold up for a while

My bricks must have been craked when they arrived, they broke shortly after startup in the first season. I now just use a combination of regular 1 1/4" and 2 1/2" fire brick building a channel in the centre of the bottom chamber. If set up right these brick last at least a full season and most are now in the scond season and holding up very well. I can't remember the cost but it is a lot less than $ 130 for a set (not to forget shipping?) Our local brick yard has a skid of each on hand at any time.

I had one of my u bricks break in the first year and dealer replaced it free. I did speak to zenon (new horizons) last week and inquired about
the new refractory blocks on his web site. from what I understand they cast them at their shop and have steel needles in them , supposed to
last longer. The price was around $80 for the set but shipped to NY was double that.

I know you can get some of the ceramic mortar and make them. This is what the Wood Gun dealer down the road told me.

My dealer is 8 hrs away and not very helpful, I would deal with Zenon but shipping is an issue to north of the border. Next best solution is fix it yourself and find a permanent solution.
