I have a Mt Vernon AE insert which has a smaller hopper capacity that the freestanding and I am finding that all of the pellets do not funnel down very well. I can load the hopper and throughout the night I find that the unit runs out of pellets however there is still a good bit of pellets left when I open the lid, they are just not funneled down. I was wondering if anyone has a solution for this. I was thinking of cleaning the hopper area well and maybe polishing/ waxing the hopper in the area where they hang up. Any thought??

This has been discussed many times....you're not alone with the problem. Many insert versions of freestanding stoves end up with smaller hoppers. All I can say is try one of the methods mentioned in this thread, and fill the hopper to the tippy-top before going to bed.

I started this over a year ago. I'm sure a search will show more threads about it:

I have the same model. I realized early that once I fill the hopper I need to manually (and gently) push the pellets in and down toward the left side of the hopper where it feeds into the stove. This creates room for a lot more pellets before bed time.

I have some silicone spray, think that will work and be ok to use??

It will work. Let the hopper empty completely, clean it out with spray cleaner & paper towel, and dry. Spray a coating of the silicone on the metal, wipe around to make a thin film, and let dry completely.

Then dump some pellets in and see what happens.
