After burning through my supply of american wood fibers i began burning my lignetics green letter and man what a heat difference from these. I don't think there is a better pellet on the market (jmho), They burn hot as can be they look different from any other pellet, nice and fat and 1/2 " lengths, what a great pellet by far.. They came up just in time for this cold ass weather and the AWF's are now gone as the were no where as good as the lignetics...

i got 3 ton left of lignetics that would change your whole view on them....glad ya got some good ones

Hemi, I'll give ya $200/ton for the Ligs. Since you don't like them, I think that's a fair price.

I'll go 210 and no more!!!! I got them for 215 a ton and i can tell you they are no way anything like ACP's. They burn hot, hot ,hot

green lettered bag hardwood....LOTS!!!!! of ash, when i scrape the pot in the morning i get big chunks of carbon and i'm burning on medium high.....did 2 trial bags before i purchased the tons and they were GREAT, total opposite of what i got now...if i remember correctly i paid 290/ton, they heat the house but after sampling alot since then i can get softwoods alot cheaper and burn hotter thus saving me pellets and even more $, i'm a lot wiser to it now since joining this site so lesson learned i guess.

The only pellet thats as bad as the ACP's is the Inferno's. And at least the ACP's throw heat!

The 2 bags I tested were from a friends bad batch. But I didn't see anything majorly wrong with them. They did have a tad more ash than what I was used to but not by much. I got really good heat from them too! The only thing that keeps me from purchasing them is there price. They are still over $275/ton(locally). I can get pellets just as good or better for a little less.

But IMO the liggies are still a solid pellet compared to some of the other junk thats out there.

Hemi,
Got any dates on your bags? I'd like to find a few bags of new ones and compare em to the 2 bags I've got left from last year. I loved those pellets, but like jay said I think I can buy the same number of BTUS for less mula.

Woodsman23,

Which TSC are you seeing for $249?

Might try the TSC in Arcade NY was able to get some for $229. Also picked up some American Wood Fiber there for $215 (maybe $219 can't remember).

Nice job Dan, good find and comparison. Hey Hemi you got blue bags or green? I'm gonna go check True Value tomorrow if possible to see if they have green or blue.

I've been burning Lignetics for years with great results. Not this year. Finally got a bad batch. I put a ton of time into my stove, thinking something was wrong with my stove and surely not the Lignetics pellets. Went out and tried a couple of bags from Lowe's of a different brand. What a difference. Now I have over a ton left in my garage that I hope I can burn. Stove goes from having a huge flame, to no flame, then goes into fault mode and shuts down. I am very surprised and disappointed. E-mailed Lignetics about the concern and they wouldn't even follow up with me.

Hemi, I will bet the Lignetics green label you are burning are the conifer blend. The same I tried.

woodsman23, Can you verify yours. Are they the hardwood only blend?

There seems to be 2 green label lignetics now. Hardwood only and the conifwer blend. Lignetics Green label Hardwood only are a differnet story. They seem to be like the Lignetics of old that were way up on the list I keep. But with all the different labels Lignetics is flying these days I would say you need to pick and choose from them carefully. The conifer blend can't compete with the bigdogs, But I bet the hardwoods only blend will!

your right jay, i can't beleive i didn't notice that, they are the conifer saw dust......they were the first tons i ever purchased, must have seen "hardwood" and got excited as it was drilled into my head "make sure they are hardwood"...such a myth

i'm burning the hardwood -softwood blend(green lettering).no problems at all.of course i've only burnt Bayou's before.still i only have to clean the burnpot every 2 days or so and i'm getting good heat from them.

Mine say 100% hardwood made in Va.

Those are the Liggies blend of old or at least close to it. See if you can find the conifer blend near you and compare. I can't find the hardwood only near me. But I will bet you the hardwood-conifer blend has 2x the ash as the hardwood only!

The hardwood only is what gave liggies there name. It will run with just about any pellet. But the hardwoods-conifer blend for the same price just doesn't cut it. Around me there getting top dollar for the liggies(mostly because of there name and rep). Paying top dollar for an under acheiving product, Doesn't seem fair. I can get(at the drop of a hat) no game playing needed good consistent pellets for less. No way in heck will I pay just for a name. Sorry I just don't like the games there playing lately!

I am in no way saying the conifer blend is bad. But I worry some will buy the hardwood only and get the conifer blend in its place. Watch the advertising. I cought one place so far and gave them heck. Done advertise the hardwoods and sell the blend.

The blend is still a good product, But it isn't worth the full deal of the hardwood only. If its offer at a reduced price heck ya I will be buying to. I too saw very good heat from them as well. But Like I said they do contain a bit more ash.

Just a word of caution to my fellow pellet heads! Don't fall for the bait and switch.

Definitely a difference in the lignetics. Went to true value today and showed them the difference. Both green labels, old ones hardwood and new ones hardwood and conifer sawdust. Old ones list Sandpoint Idaho (I used to live very close to there) and West Virginia. New ones also list Virginia. I have a bag of both and will try to do a little compare burn this weekend or next week.
