IMO

1=Turmans
2=Lignetics
Toss up between the energex and Omalleys. maybe a slight edge to energex.

Raven, I see from your signature line that you have (or had) 3 of the brands you are wondering about choosing from. The only one I see missing is the Energex. And I've heard some disturbing things about my beloved Lignetics recently. So if you remember how the others burned in your stove, get 2-3 bags each of the Energex and Ligs, test burn them, and go from there.

From what Jay said above, I think I'd tend to lean toward the Turman's.

Thanks Mac, Yes I have tried the Turmans and by far are the best pellet....Haven't came across the *New* Lignetics yet but I will stay away from those........I just can't believe the pellet prices are dropping on these brands.....

Currently oversupplied, I'm sure. Don't wait too long though....oil prices are climbing, and I wouldn't be surprised to see pellets start going back up too because of that. Monkey see, monkey do in the energy supply world.

Lowes here in central WV has pellets for $218 a ton ($231 after tax) I could not find a brand name.

I just paid $250 for 1 ton of Okies from a place that will also store the ton indoors for free.

I know I broke the rule of buying a ton before trying them out but I didn't want to get caught w/out pellets as oil rises. And, I'm betting Okies will work in the Accentra fs due to be installed next week. :)

edit: woohoo me 1st ton.... pellet pig here I come :p

Lowes here in Wheeling carried Presto Logs (made by Lignetics in Glenville,crap for me) and American Wood Fiber. Haven't checked out Lowes pellets since September but will be looking next week

They have American Wood Fiber here for 220.00 a ton.....Heck, for 29 more bucks I'll get the Turmans......

Don't look down on the AWF....I burned some, and liked them a lot. Great, fresh oak smell too.....like new hardwood flooring. :)

AWF would run neck and neck with the lignetics. But the Turmans are very hard to beat. I have burned them for the last 4 years and they are one of the best. Very low ash and very high heat.

IMO for overall quality, ash content and heat.
The only brands I would put in the Turmans class are Cubex, Barefoots, Spruce Pointes and Okies. Because of there outstanding heat! I hope to add Dragon Mountain If I can ever find them(there are a few other brands I think would be in that class too but there not available near me). Hamer HotOnes may make it too. I just haven't burned them yet. Soon.

Lignetics are still up there. But there ash gets them a little. Still a solid pellet. AWF were also a good solid pellet but there heat is not quit up to the big boys.

Now don't get me wrong! I will still burn lignetics and AWF. But I would have to consider if they would actually save me some money 1st and for most. The big dogs crank out the BTU's and you may actually burn less bags per year. So for $29 dollars more you may be saving money in the long run or braking even. Hard to figure out the dollar factor. But I will guarantee you will have BTU's to spare. Personally I want the maximum amount of BTU's per dollar spent, I just haven't figure out how to do it yet.

This is for the winter COLD pellets. By all means if you need to save cash. Do it with shoulder season pellets. This is were you can skimp on the Max BTU's.Best not to Skimp in the COLD

Edit: I may have to revise the list and Add the Lignetics Green label Hardwood only if I could find them. They seem to be like the Lignetics of old that were way up on the list I keep. But with all the different labels Lignetics is flying these days I would say you need to pick and choose from them carefully.
