Has anyone ever upgraded an Enviro from the old control board (pre 2006) to the new one (post 2006)? My Enviro Mini suffers from lack of trim controls that the new board offers. I'm hoping this will help me with finding a damper setting that is good for High through the lowest heat setting. Currently I need to keep the damper way closed to keep the fire from burning out on Low, but that yields a lazy flame on high. I've had this issue since day-1 with all the pellet brands I've used.

Also the On/Off thermostat logic is better on the new one. When the thermostat reaches temperature, it first drops back to Low for 30 min, then shuts off if the thermostat is still satisfied. Currently, mine goes immediately to the shutdown cycle, which can result in lots of startup cycles throughout the day. Lastly, the new board has a switch to control thermostat mode, while my old board has an internal jumper.

Anyway - The connectors on the old/new control boards look identical, but I'd like some type of confirmation that they are electrically compatible before I plunk down $250. I know I'll need to modify the board mounting panel to accommodate slide switch, and the right hand stove cover as well.

Here is a pix of the old board:

I would be interested in the answer to this also, I have experience all the same issue with my Mini, constant damper adjustments etc... When you mention modifying the side panel, would that initial cutting additional openings to fit the new board/panel? I think $250 would be worth the time and trouble if the new board would cure some of the headaches the old one causes.

The mod should be pretty easy. For the right side panel, I expect to have to cut-out the metal strip that separates the two slots. For the circuit board mounting panel I expect to have to make a notch to allow for the slide switch. Note that you would need to buy the new "decal" that covers the buttons/LED's. I've seen that for like $35. I'd probably opt for going without that, or making one.

Here is the link to the update owners that makes reference to the trim and thermostat switch operation: http://www.enviro.com/images/manuals-brochures/owners-manuals/C-11623 Instruction Mini A Owner's Manual.pdf

Note that panel layout diagram in the manual (figure 2) I believe is incorrect. It shows the thermostat switch as being vertical, but the picture I got of the new circuit board shows is as being horizontal.

Let's hope someone chimes in saying that both old/new versions are electrically compatible. (I can't imagine that they wouldn't be - They would almost have to go out f there way to make them incompatible).

If you download the old manual and the new manual. maybe even the tech manuals. They have the wire diagrams in them. Following the wires and verify they are compatible. I would say they are plug and play. Except for the mode switch slot. But if you can't mode the cover. There is a part number for the new cover as well. New cover will have the slot. probably have to order the label as well.

I am not 100% sure. Best to talk with a dealer or contact enviro directly. They will give you the scoop. If you need a contact use this link and go to bottom of the page.

$250. Gaaaaaaaaah! Best send an email and ask first to if it's completable.

Absolutely, listen to what Jay said.

Unless you know 100% that the new board is compatible, don't do anything.....you could fry the new board and be out $250 in a blink of an eye.

Yup - Board is plug-n-play, and can be configured for Many Enviro models. I tried to upload a pdf of the instructions, but it won't take :(
