Thanks for the info. That must be why the Hamers burn so hot. I talked to the lady at BT and she said they were mostly oak and gave me their website. I checked it out and read that Hamers from the Elkin plant were mostly oak which is where they buy from and the other plant is just mixed hardwoods. I will have to go back to BT $270 is not bad with the heat they produce. Again thanks for sharing your findings it is most helpful.

Anytime, Us fellow pellet heads need to stick together! If you find any deals PLEASE share with us.

Do you know where I can get Turman around here to try out ? The only website I find it on is CT pellet but the website does not appear to have changed since the spring sale. Are they still aound. I emailed them a couple of times and never received a response.
CJ'S has them on their web site. 268.00 per ton.

The new review has both on it. I have got some burnt already Just not the hamers, Turmans and Wood Pellet Co. Yet. Kind busy at work. So weekends only for now.

Cj's has the best deal on the Turmans around. Hard to get with them though. Heard they are good too.

Sorry thanks dodge. but Jay still curious if you tested these but I will try to go back and look at your original review.

Jay, again thanks for the continued testing! I have now tried several bags of the Cubex and they have the least ash and have burned the hottest. I consistantly had temps close to 300 degrees. Oakies came in a close second at 270 degrees. My mission now is to find Cubex at a reasonable price. Dodges Agway in Hampton Falls, NH has them but for $330 a ton!

Do you have any Turmans near you? I have good luck with them. Not quite as hot but still a darn good pellet.

Hey can someone post something in the new test thread to give it a bump? I can't post in it something to do with the site software.

Hmmmm...Don't know. I'll check with them and see if they have a dealer locator. I'll go hit your test thread right now.

Hopefully I get to them soon. If you find some there 100% Oak just like the Cubex. Usually a bit cheaper. I haven't stacked them up against anything in a few years. But I usually get 50 to 65 for the cold. been another good pellet for me.

Thanks for the bump. I wasn't sure if it was locking others out too!

Would you say from all of your findings that the Turmans are hotter and cleaner than softwood? I have been reading some good reviews on the Rocky Mountain and they are only a couple dollars more. Definetly worth dealing with a company I can get in touch with and they are open 6 days a week.

1fireball,

In my testing I see both species burning hot and clean. It really depends on the how clean the fiber is to make a good clean pellet. I burn both. But I do tend to lean towards the softwoods. But My budget doesn't always let me buy what I want. I have to trial to find deals I can afford. Unfortunately my wallet chooses my pellet purchase, Not me.

In my testing I actually found the Okies and spruce pointes to be a better pellet with both heat and low ash. I can't comment on the Turmans just yet. I want to burn them in my test before I say anything. I haven't temp checked these in my current stove. I am burning the Wood Pellet Co. right now. Heat was decent. There are some really long pellet in there., Kinda dusty and a little more fines than I would want. Check my test I put everything there. Check the chart on the 1st post of each test. Has all the info and you can print it.

Cubex is the overall hottest pellet I have burnt to date
Okies are the lowest ash pellet I have burnt to date.

As with any pellet I recommend I always suggest you don't take my word. best to try a few bags before you take the plunge in a large purchase! You stove needs to be the judge! I don't want a bad purchase on my shoulders and prefer you try them 1st.

I'm going thursday a.m........anyone wanna split a ton?....looking to get the rock'y, or barefoote

if it was the Okanagan I'd consider splitting a ton, the price is $265/ton.
I never tried the rockies but hear they're good also.

Hey guys tried the Wood Pellet Co. Liked them good heat and little ash. I am going to try the Nature's Own on Sat. I let you know how they do.

Hey Dodge could you let us know about the Natures Own I am looking to try something new!

I am getting some Saturday as well. They will be added to my testing reveiw.

The only issue I saw with the WPC was some long pellets over 1 1/2 inches. Some augers do except them to well. But otherwise good heat and decent ash. Some fines but not severe!

A good pellet at that price!
