ok I Spilled a bunch of kerosene on the sleeve of my new work coat. I have tried dish soap, vinegar, lemon juice, oxyclean, and xtra laundry detergent. Any other ideas? Thanks

Newer new work coat? Kidding! Maybe take it to a professional dry cleaner and explain the problem. Yeah, it'll cost to get it cleaned, but you've already put a whole bunch of time & effort into it with, apparently, less than satisfactory results. I think maybe I'd go to the folks who know cleaning and turn the problem over to them. Good luck, I know how that feels to "trash" a brand new non-cheap piece of gear. Rick

Is the problem a stain or "stink"? If it's a stain - well, it's a work coat, so where's the issue??? If it's "stink" I would say that you'll need to soak the area in an oil dissolving type pre-cleaner, then launder - perhaps repeatedly... There is an outfit that makes a bunch of products that my GF swears by called Motsenbocker's Lift-Off - they make a bunch of different numbered formulas, and you have to pick the right number according to the problem. There are some places that sell large individual bottles of the different formulas (I think there are four or five) but usually you see it being sold as a set of little bottles of each number. Website may be at Liftoffinc.com

You might also try some of the citrus based cleaners, or possibly even just a strong solution of laundry detergent in water... The big challenge if it's an insulated coat will be getting the insulation saturated with the cleaning solution and then getting the solution out afterwards.

If the coat has a water resistant outer shell, you may have better luck if you can turn it inside out so that you don't trap the cleaning solution inside the shell...

The issue is the stink. Pretty much saturated the whole sleeve right through to the inside with the crap. I'll give that orange hand cleaner a try I guess. Thanks

I would think soaking/laundering in some kind of degreaser would do it. Might want to take it to a laundromat so you don't contaminate your washing machine at home.

Thanks for all the suggestions . 1/4 bottle of pine sol seems to have done the trick.

Last time I inadvertantly spilled diesel fuel on my jacket washing it didn't seem to help so I just left it out on the clothesline for a week.
Must have evaporated it away.
