Looked at this 4 x 4 on the way home today. Looking for opinions...2001 and asking 2K for but will take less. Good deal or not??

Yeah the link didn't work, but I will put in my 2 cents. I own the 600 and it does everything I have ever wanted. More power than I believe most people would need. One very useful tool is a winch. Mine is used for everything from joyriding, cutting wood, plowing the driveway, dragging the kid on her sled and hunting. It has never let me down. I have had only one problem with mine and that is the master cylinder for the rear brakes went out and was covered by warranty. Only other thing I will say is it cold natured, always starts but takes a little while to warm up.

In terms of just power . . . anything around the 500 cc mark or higher should be plenty powerful enough to drag out some decent sized wood or haul a small trailer of bucked up wood. Heck, I have a 450 cc machine that works well.

In terms of whether this is a good deal or not . . . depends on the actual wear and tear on the ATV and if there are any issues with it. Not seeing this ATV up close and personal (or even a picture) it's really hard to say if this is a decent deal or not.

I had a Polaris Sporstman 700 I bought new in 2002. I didn't use it for cutting wood but it did everything I ever wanted it to do, and then some. About 2 years ago I decided to let it be my wife's quad and I bought the 800 EFI Sportsman. I'm here to tell you this thing is a workhorse. I use it most times when cutting wood. It weighs nearly 800lbs without me on it. If one can capitalize on the effects of leverage and using a snatch block, a 3000lb winch will haul some logs. I've used it to yard out some logs weighing as much as 1000lbs up a decent incline. Of coarse you need to pick your escape route correctly, be weighted at the the hitch solid for getting a good grip while locked up in 4WD, but it will pull some wood. I really appreciate the EFI option, no throttling to get warm and instant start up without monkeying with a choke.

To get back to the OP, you didn't mention how many miles or operating hours if available to you. If the miles are less than 3k I say go for it, but do yourself some justice and have it serviced should you buy it, could be the best $200 you've ever spent. These Polaris models will last many, many years if taking care of. Do some research and let us on the forum know what you decided.

Thanks to all for your responses. I'm going to look at it again in the morning. I did find out that the owner of it now is the third owner since new. Will check the hourmeter and odometer.
Will keep ya informed and post pics if I buy it.
