My stove is having trouble holding a decent flame. Wondering if it's my exhaust. I have a 3-inch exhaust converting into a 6-inch exhaust. The vertical exhaust length is close to 10 feet. Could this be causing a problem? Stove ran great last year with this setup. You name it, and I've tried everything else I can think of. Thanks for any assistance!

Flem, I run a 3" stove outlet into a 4" pipe for about 6', and that converts to a 8" pipe through the roof another 10'....no problems with draft.

Hey Flem,
Anything changed in your house that migbht affect the combustion air feed ? e.g. insulated basement, or new windows ? if it's the flame being lazy, what about the gasket seal on the door maybe ? My old Jamestown has another gasket where the burnpot sat and that was almost always the cause of my lazy flame issues. Good luck.

Throughly clean your stove...

Maybe a weak exhaust blower?

My problem isn't exhaust related after all. Thanks for your input though!

You won't believe it. Pellets were getting trapped in between the auger and the auger wall. It provided enough resistance to slow the auger motor down. Not enough pellets were being fed to keep an adequate flame. These stoves definitely have their own personalities!

Wait until you can see the auger turning, pellets moving arround, and absolutely nothing coming out of the feed tube.

Get enough fines in the path and things shimmy and wiggle and turn but they never get through the fines and the fines slip under the auger and don't advance. Nothing comes out the other end. The stove goes out of fuel with a full hopper.
