Hi all,

It's finally here...'install date'. I thought it would be fun to post 'live' updates and photos as our stove is installed today. And, thought it would calm my nerves too. LOL

Here are a couple of 'before' shots:

Corner install

outside of house where about 4-5' of pipe will go up, next to the chimney, hope this isn't an issue?

Thanks again for the help/information...this forum is a goldmine!

:)

So far so good ;-)

In an ironic twist, 1 of the installers is the guy we actually bought this house off of 7 years ago!!!

Congrats! Judging from your sig line it looks like you
have a very good selection of pellets ready to go.

Tx Xena, I'm looking forward to experimenting with pellets...I feel the addiction brewing LOL.

The stove has a manufacture date of 1/7/2010, so it's hot off the presses. Interesting thing is the burnpot has the initials
"ADV" in it. Guessing it means it is the Advance's burnpot. It does NOT have the 5 holes near the auger :).

Done!!! Inspector just gave the okay...we're good to go!!! The guys from Higgins in Barre, MA did a great job.

Now just have to accessorize....hee hee

LOL smelly burning off the paint :) Loving the heat already

Congrats! Great 'live' pics. You're going to love your pellet stove, it's a whole different kind of heat! ;-)

No hearth pad?

Look back in the first few pics he posted. I'm pretty certain
the base of that model stove serves as a sufficient floor protector.

Nice, neat and clean install, again congrats and enjoy the warmth!

Hi,
It comes with a Harman hearthpad that meets clearances/codes. It's cast iron and under the stove. Makes for a tighter fit, although I opted to have the stove placed further out from corner walls so I can get behind it easier.

heeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttt lol

Congrats on your new stove and enjoy!
I can hear your excitement from here ;-)

The install looks great Jan. And thanks for the pics of the install and especially the burning pics.....we LOVE pics!!

BTW, don't forget to put it on your taxes next year.....the $$ for the pipe & install costs are deductible too.

The heat is blasting us out already LOL Still finishing up running it on high to cure. Quick question...any ideas how long to do this? Thinking 2 hours is fine.

xena and tink...I grew up on the 'south shore' :) In Weymouth. Small world.

Macman...my invoice/paperwork say stove bought 12/2009. Wondering if I can claim the stove on 2009 taxe return. :p

Tx all.

Okay another stupid "noob" question...please bear with me:

Running in stove mode Low, feed 4, temp mode 4 now that the cure is done. Obv. when stove was on High...it was loud..no problem.

Now on "low" setting the stove itself is nice and quiet :) but... the auger noise is very audible now. Each time it feeds pellets I can hear the auger turning.

Just wondering if it is normal to hear the 'turning' of the auger. (It's not a squeak or squeal..just a turning sound and pellets dropping sound).

Tx,
nervous noobie

no such thing as stupid noob questions...thats how we all learn

It is normal.. ;-)

yeah, thats normal. barely noticeable, but it is not absolutely "silent". if its not normal, I have the exact same problem. lol! :cheese:

same stove, here. very happy with it.

Most stove manufacturers recommend from 2-3 hr's on medium heat setting.

As for the tax thing, if it was bought in '09, you can probably claim it, although the exact wording is "date placed in service".

Jan99 nice pics! Really appreciated the burnpot pic since there has been so much discussion on the forum lately. It won't look nice and clean for long without the burn spots and usage. Get yourself a prybar from sears to scape the scale off the burnpot when needed. Also the auger noise is normal. Good luck and happy pellet burning!

Nice thread, it reminded me of how excited I was back in October when mine was installed! Enjoy the stove, it sounds like you are well on your way to a healthy obsession :p .

Hmm, have to take my slippers off, it's getting warm in the living room! LOL

Here is another photo. Pretty sure this tube is Harmans 'gummy stove' fix.

Tx again everyone,

Janice

Alright...the good, the bad, and the ugly after Day 1! LOL

The good: THE HEAT
I've run it 'Stove mode' all day. Feed on 4. Temp knob on 4 from about 6:30 to 10:30am then set it down to 3 for the rest of day.
At 12:30 pm I turn stove mode from middle of dial to the "L" side. Bec. our house thermostat in the kitchen was reading 72 °F and the upstairs thermostat was reading 70 °F . :) After lowering stove dials, both thermostats are reading 69-70ish. still. This is still pellets from the 1st bag of Okies. Glass is looking good and very little ash.

The bad: The Noise
Kinda noisy with blower on Medium and the auger normal turning sounds, but I'm getting adjusted to it. The occasional sort of CLUNKING sound which I assume is pellets chopping up in auger???
I LIKE the pellets clinking noises though.
One noise I"m not sure about though. The helicopter blades, truck driving by, woofing noise. VERY intermittent. Not very loud, but I def. notice it at times. I did a search for 'woofing' and haven't completely decided what/why it happens or if it is a problem. Anyone having experience with this? Tx

The ugly: THAT Rosie/Sadaam picture koosier posted. YIKES.

All in all, so far so good. The oil heat has not turned on once today!!! :)

Tx,
Janice

jan99,

Thanks for sharing your install with us. Nice looking stove too. New noise's always get noticed. But once your used to them, they seem to leesen with the adjustment time.

The whooshing truck noise does seem odd. Maybe a Harman owner will place it for you?

Enjoy the heat and have fun with the new toy.
