Turn up your hearing aid and kill the caps. You don't have to shout I can hear you.

Creosote buildup can happen due to causes outside of stove. Common causes are letting the fire smolder, burning damp wood, and/or a too cool chimney. Outside of the creosote issue, how has the stove done for heating? FWIW, a new stove will need to burn dry wood and have a properly sized flue to work well.

There are a lot of stoves that might work, but it would help to know a bit more about the installation so that the final result is successful. First it would help to know how large an area you are trying to heat? Is the stove just heating the basement or the basement and the floor above? Is the basement insulated? And it would help to know a bit more about the chimney. Is there a liner in it? If so, what size? Is this an interior or exterior chimney?

I am trying to heat the basement and the first floor. The chimmney is a single wall 8 inch pipe, about 8ft long going into my furnance connection. The 8 inch pipe is at a 45 degree angle at about 6ft high exiting in the furnance outlet and up the masonary chimmney 30ft The basement is not insulated. No liner in the chimmney.dont use the furnance at all in the winter months.thanks

Ok, not an ideal setup, about 1/4 of the heat is heading outdoors through the uninsulated walls, but we'll go with what you've got.

Would you know the clay tile dimensions in the masonry chimney? This is important for correct operation and to understand the creosote issue. It also will play into deciding whether a liner would be required for a new stove.

What is the sq ftg of each floor? That will help figure the size of the stove.
