All,

We have an Englander 30 that we installed at the end of last summer, and so far this winter it has been great! There is no comparison between this and my old Century. I've read a few threads about using the blower in a fireplace install and how it makes such a huge difference. My question - is it worth it in a fairly open room install? Our house is a double wide which has vaulted ceilings and it really stays pretty even throughout the house just with a ceiling fan on. I'm just wondering if I'll get much more heat out of the stove using a blower or not? We usually have to load the stove 3 times per day, and just vary the amount of wood based on how cold it is outside.. the house is usually at least 70-75 when we are home and we let it cool to 65 during the day and over night. The coolest I've woken up to is 61 on a night where it was ~5°F with 25-40mph winds. We heat about 1800 sq feet, but its a double wide, so I'm loosing heat in all four directions.. (what I would give for a basement!)

Trust me, I bought the fan 1 week ago. You think your warm now, wait till you get the fan. 100% worth the 155 bucks.

With that kind of success I would just keep doing what you are doing. The blower will circulate the air better but it sounds like you are doing just fine like you are.

I've got a free-standing 30 in an open room. I couldn't imagine putting a blower on it, as it cooks us out as it is!

Thanks everyone for the input! I hadn't even really considered a blower until I was reading the "wow" threads about using one on a 30. This thing is definitely a beast of a stove. Englander is #1 in my book after owning this stove, I'm sold for sure! (even though I don't ever plan on having to buy another stove, and I'm only 26!)

I just orderd a blower for mine, should be here today. i will let you know how it does. I am trying to heat the basement and upstairs. It's doing great now, it's 35 this morning and we were hot. The real test with the blower will be when it's 10 degrees out again.

Definitely let me know if you see a difference! It was ~29-30 out this morning and still 72 in the house when I got up, I checked the "memory" thermometer and it had been up to 79 in there overnight, oops, I guess I forgot to put a little less wood in :)

We put the blower on ours. Basically, it got the rest of the house warmer faster. During the day I have it on low just to help circulate the warmth, at night I run it on high to really push the heat around. It's pretty noisey on high.

Got the blower this weekend and hooked up. It seemed to help out a lot. Moves the air a good bit. i was standing about 10ft in front of the stove and can feel the warm air coming off the stove with the fan around medium. I would go for it. they only thing i did notice it cools the stove top a little. Before i turn the blower on the stove was running about 700, with the blower on it droped down to about 450 or 500. but i think with the air moving with the blower on it's not going to matter.

Thanks for the update crabby! I just ordered mine this morning from Woodstove Outlet...hoping it gets here this week.

What is the sound level like on it?

I think it will help out quite a bit in the really cold weather. I noticed a big difference on how it helped circulate the heat in my basement. It sounds like you probably wont even need to use the blower on yours until it gets below 15 or so. It will definitely help you on those really cold nights.

it's kinda loud on high but i can live with it. not to bad, i had it medium and you can still sum what hear it but not bad at all. actually no louder than a tower fan or box fan.

What did you guys pay for your blower?

Trying to price one out and make sure I don't pay too much for it.
