Can you please direct me to the thread that had the explanation about Okanagan being sold at a discounted price because they were not stored properly and therefore they were sold at a cheaper price and restacked?

Didnt look restacked when i bought a ton last sat, they used the okie plastic covers on them, also was a brown plastic wrap too, and the only giveway maybe is there is no sheet of cardboard on the bottom layer towards the pallet, every ton i've bought in 11 years had a sheet of cardboard on top of the pallet then the bags stacked on top, rumor is there last yr's pellets , reason why there cheap.....like i said if they dont sell out there april sell they will.

And if i never joined this forum i would of never knew about Okanagan, would just be buying unknowns cheapest i could find locally, like i have been for years.

Okies arent factory-stacked with anything but the Okie cover, so, if there was another cover on them, or under the okie cover, they were restacked.....Ive got it on good authority that they are ALL, in fact, restacked......

I was under the impression that last years Okies had a clear bag and then last spring they changed to the white bag. What color are they at Squier's?

clear, I believe

White face, clear backside...new are all white?

Is everyone restacking? Sounds like a batch got damaged and/or weathered and was inspected and corrected. Kudos for being proactive.

Outside of damage issues .....Do most dealers break down the product to get to 50 bags, or keep the factory wrap of 65. If I was looking for 3 ton of product, I would rather take 2 factory skids and call it a day. I'd be happy and the dealer would not have to handle the product. Yes, I may need to pick up another skid mid-year, but no big deal in my book.

They were 1.3 ton pallets, they skimmed off 15 bags then loaded on my truck, only have a F-150 so 1.3 be pushing it.

its much easier to sell 50 bag skids, but many folks just cant haul them that way. After you settle down in restacking pellets, a guy can restack 2-3 tons per hour, sustainably....dont forget, they need to be restacked, inspected, re-covered, and re-shrinkwrapped, so its quite a bit of work. If there wasnt some damage, of course noone would restack them, its too much trouble. But with some damage, the retailer cant expect the end-user to "eat" the damage, and would have to replace the bags...again, more work for all. So, Im guessing its just easier to restack at the facility, pay some high school kid to do it, and sell the end-user good product........the damaged bags can be used as horse bedding, some folks actually screen them, etc....and if they can be sold, are generally sold at deep discounts.

Of the 50 bag only 2 had small holes, used duct tape to seal.

Just because you had an origianl covering does not mean they were not restacked. The tons that they are restacking obviously had the original okie covering on the product before they were restacked. I would think that the damage product purchased at an "as is " price must have had some with the original oakie covers.... If they are offering them at such a low price they have product they purchased at a cheaper rate and had to sift through to put together a good ton or 1.3.... whatever. Unfortunately to a distributer who is not local and can not take advantage of sifting through this product has to pay top dollar and of course transportation cost......
And if this is not the case how could they sell your product at at much lower price than some of your distrubuters could get it for at your so called bottom price.... Maybe you could answer this BTU???

If I remember correctly, the "re-stacked" pellets had something like "K" or "OK" spray painted on the outside of the wrapping.

Are you sure the price didn't go UP from $219 per TON to $239 per TON? $239 for 1.3 tons seems too good to be true. In any event I'm headed back there tomorrow to pick up the remaining supply I ordered last week and I'll find out for sure. Might be explaining to SWMBO that we need to make MORE room in the basement. ;-)

No, Pellet-King is correct. The Squiers website states 1.3 tons of okies for $239 (= $184/ton)

Well in THAT case....

I wonder if the lil lady will mind climbing over a few more pallets of pellets to get to the washer and dryer??? I can't NOT buy as many of these as I can!

 A future pellet pig, for sure.

I've been burning them for about a week now. They seem pretty good.I had 4 bags that had some wet or kind of mush damage and 2 bags that were ripped open on the bottom of the pile I will bring those back.I just ordered another 1.3 ton ,for $239 what the heck.Anybody know the 3 button setting for an Englander 55pdv off hand.My stove never seems to burn right. The bags I got were clear.

Greg, next time I recommend starting a new thread about something different....your question is buried here. Also, doing a search of this will probably get the answer too.

Anyway, the setting for your stove from the factory is supposed to be 6-4-1, if i remember correctly. If you use that setting, and it seems to be using pellets really fast, try 4-4-1.
