1. I just finished cleaning out the clean out tee. I needed to reseal the cap
with silicone to prevent any smoke leakage.....
Is it ok to run the stove before the silicone fully cures?

2. Are there any tricks to prevent the silicone from
hardening in the tip of the tube?
I tried putting tape on it....didn't work.....tried the little cap
that came with the tube....didn't work...each time the silicone
hardened in the tube...a real pain in the butt when you go to use
it again...

Oh, and the wife and I really hate that vinegar
odor from the silicone.....but I guess it's better than smoke
leaking in the house....

Thanks.

Hello, when I installed my stove (which happens to be the same one you own) I fired it up about 5 mins. later. Im not very patient, never had any problems other than a little smoke. also if your caulking gun has the "cleaner rod" it comes in handy...

I always squeeze a little from the end of the tube to form a "curl", and let that harden. Next time I use it, I have a little "handle" to pull out the cured plug...works for me.

As the old Guinness commercials use to say: Brilliant!
I'll try it.....

Oh and sorry.....I didn't see the earlier post about silicone curing
time....

I just stick a long nail in the tip.

Put a long nail in the tip before you store it. Then just pull the nail when you want to use. It's an old carpenter's trick.

or you can get a caulk saver some stores carry them for like 1.50 or 2 bucks we us then on the realy good caulk as it cost to much to waste
