I recently bought a used smokedragon insert from CL. I got it installed and running great just in time for this heat wave.( High today was in the mid 50s in STL, go figure)

The window in the front of the door is intact but seems to be permanently fogged. I mean it looks like obscured/sandblasted glass. When I wet the glass it gets a little more clear but nothing like some of the new stoves I've seen. Nothing like window glass.

So I've considered getting a new piece of neoceram from Onedayglass.com. But I read on their site it has an amber tint to it. OK. But is it clear or slightly obscured?

Anybody got any experience with neoceram?

Not familiar with Neoceram, but used to get sheets of glass-ceramic from McMaster-Carr. It was sort of amber and was not quite completely clear. I think it was plenty good for a stove window though. Part number 84815K59, $65 for a 12" x 12" piece.

Multiple overfires can cloud the glass. Does the stove show any signs of overfiring or light-grey areas on the stove?

It has been overfired. The inside of the firebox has some deformities.

A 7x13 piece of 3/16 neoceram from Onedayglass.com was $38 with $23 shipping to me. Anybody got any tips on something cheaper or other sites to check out.

Or a way to make my apparently overheated glass clear again?

Hope it was cheap. I don't know why one would pay for someone else's beat to poop smoke dragon.

Thats not a bad price, I ordered my glass from them, and it was cheaper than if I drove 20 miles to pick on up at the local glass shop.
And oneday gets delivered to your door.

I paid for it because the guy didn't want to give it away and because it fits my needs. If you've got a suggestion for an EPA insert that will fit in my fireplace for what I paid, let me see it.
