I have noticed cracks in my fire bricks in my VC Resolute Acclaim 2490 and today was a warm day with little need for a fire, so I decided to pull them out and inspect them. All four bricks are in pretty bad shape and the replacement cost for all four bricks would be $384. ($120 each for the two rear arch bricks and 72 each for the two side bricks.)

I am going to attempt to repair them with Imperial Brand "Stove & Fireplace Cement & Mortar" which it claims to withstand up to 2100F with its claimed "superior bonding".

Any words of advice?

If it does not work, any suggestions on good (cheaper) sources for VC fire bricks?

That is a lot for bricks. First if the bricks are just cracked like they split in 2 they are probable fine as they are. As long as the 2 pieces are stable in the normal position. Lots of us have bricks that cracked and we have used them for years. The stove cement is a temp fix but back in the day some of us cemented our stoves every year just to keep them going. As far as where to get new specialized bricks I have to leave that to other folks.

The side ones can probably wait. But the arch brick corners have cracked at the top which is allowing the rest of the brick below that to press back toward the rear of the stove along the center seam. Behind the center seam is the refractory unit ($400) which I don't want to get damaged by the arch bricks pressing against it. The corners of the brick have not come unattached from the main brick, but the only thing holding them is some type of reinforcement material that looks like thin wires.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought I found someone even cheaper than I am. That is heck of a price for bricks. I would give the repair a try also.
