The man with one watch always knows what time it is....the man with two is never sure.

Yeah, who knows anymore. Maybe we should all go back to the old days before they had thermometers and just burn the damn wood.

Its like getting a concentricity gage for your handloaded ammo...stuff that you thought was good and shot just fine, now makes you worried its not good enough!!

ooh i know exactly what you are saying!
i have a lot of ammo to load but i am worried about committing to a certain load, as i fear i will find out later that it is not as good as another load i could use.

I don't have a thermometer. There's a window on my stove. I look at the fire. If things seem too hot, I close the air down.

I almost bought a thermometer a while back. It seemed like everyone here is using them. Then I noticed how many people's thermometers don't work.

To be fair, I pretty much never have to run this thing very hard. It's oversized for the the house in a mild climate.

I look for my normal "position" and some at the temp to know if all is going "normal"

I can tell if the EPA stove is running well by looking outside. Then note "position" or temp ;)

By the way I have the second one.... And that looks hot !

I have two thermometers also...they are usually pretty close,,,checked them both in the oven, still very close. I just use them for a ballpark number. Gotta get a temp. gun, its the only way to go.
