Hi all. Got a good long burn out of the stove last night, didn't get up till 9:30 am and stove was still maybe 250 with coals that restarted right quick. Very nice! Snow coming down like crazy and we are in the 20s, which is cooooold for us here. Very pleased with the stove!

So Pagey has shared a lot with me about his Endeavor but I still have a few questions if anyone is up for it. Stove seems pretty good running anywhere around 500 or up. Pagey says his cruises comfortably at around 650, I would say ours levels out a bit lower than that, maybe 600 though when we are really going good and steady. A few times we;ve seen the stove peak out at 700 or so, but brought it back down pretty quickly. On this stove, I assume that's not an overfire at all? Nothing glows red except occasionally the burn tubes in the middle, when the wood is stacked high in the firebox. Would an overfire consist of high temps for a sustained period of time? And well over 700 or ? What do you guys think who have this stove? I am confident that we have done OK so far but as we get used to the stove I want to make sure we are maintaining safe habits for the burn temps that will not damage the stove.

Further, I have questions about the blower. We don't have it attached with the little screws but it sits right there in position anyway. The sensor seems a bit odd though as it sometimes does not come on when it seems it ought to. Does the primary air control down there in the middle of the blower need to be pushed in for the blower to work right? It seems if that is pulled out at all it doesn't really come on. And the temps at which it comes on seem pretty inconsistent, I thought it said something about coming on at 575 but I know I have had it running sometimes lower than that.

All in all I am really happy with this stove. THanks in advance for any comments.

Well if it's a Lopi question, you know I'll add something....

I get my Revere up to around 600. At about 550 I usually do the last closing of the damper all the way. It will sit there for 2 or so hours before slowly falling and resting around 450. I've had it up around 7ish, but to me that's pretty scary territory. If I get it to 650 it starts smelling differently.

On the blower, you really need to put those screws in. The reason is that the sensor is right there in the middle. If you don't have the blower secured to the metal then it will take forever to activate it. I bet that when the damper is out it's not up against it and when it's in it gets pushed against the metal so it comes on. Your blower should come on by the time your stove hits the 600 mark if starting cold. Most of the time mine is still on in the morning around 7ish but it all depends on when I go to bed. The temp the blower comes on is erratic because it takes a little while for the heat to travel downward to the sensor. I'd aim to keep your stove below 650, but don't think overfire happens till about 800 or so. The stove will take it anyway, but why risk it?

I have an Endeavor and it cruises 600 or better all the time just like Pagey's, it's rare if it doesn't hit 600 or better when I load it full. The manual says overfire on the Endeavor is 800, I've always stayed below that. Last night our temps were hovering around 0 or lower, I couldn't keep it less then 750 due to the super draft it created. I have a 30' chimney so it tends to suck pretty good.

I have a blower and it tends to knock 100 the stove top if I turn it on after I have a fire going. The sensor on the Endeavor mounts to the back of the stove between the rear heatshield and the firebox so it's a little different then yours. It seems a little inconsistent at times with it's starting temp. I figure it's due to back of the stove heating up at a different rate then the cook top where I take my temp. readings.

Here is my stove top temp. right now.(loaded a half hour ago) :cheese:

Thanks very much!
We got the blower attached today and there's a pretty major difference. It looks like compared to how often it comes on now, we were barely using the blower at all. I thought sitting there in the same posititon would be about the same, but it sure isn't! Can't tell yet how differently it will heat the house or how differently it will get to or maintain temperature, but I'm sure there will be some changes.
