Do you guys use any type roller or round pipes to move your insert into the fireplace? If so, do you leave the rods/rollers in place in the event you have to remove the unit? I am considering an insert that weighs 450 lbs and was thinking it would be tough to get a hold of it to pull it back out if it is sitting flat on the bricks.

Thanks,
Rob

Rob,
Put a piece of thin gauge sheet metal on the bottom of the fireplace before installing the insert. This will make it a lot easier to slide the insert in and out. I use 1" wooden dowel to roll the insert in and out for the yearly cleaning. And yes I remove the dowel after the insert is in place.

+1, that is how I put in our pellet insert (now gone). It made servicing very easy.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like a great plan.
