My new XXV has been installed and been burning pellets instead of propane since 5:00pm yesterday. An ice storm has hit the area starting this morning. I lost power at 5pm today and have been on generator since. The stove is soo nice. I will post pictures soon.

Congrats! We purchased an XXV earlier in the month and it's been a great investment. It's currently 14 out, with a wind chill of 3, the house is at 70 and the stove doesn't even look like it's breaking a sweat!

What are your stove settings and how much do you burn a day? I am using 'room temp' with a feed rate of 4. I have the temp set a fraction above 65. Temp probe is laying on the floor behind the stove. Temp outside is high 20s. I seem to be using a little under 2 bags a day.

I think I would get the sensor off the floor. That is the coldest part of the room, and will give inaccurate readings to the stove. At the very least, mount it on the wall behind the stove at the height a regular thermostat is mounted....approx 50" above the floor.

I generally use my stove on room temp mode as well. Just to give you some background information so we are at least "trying" to compare apples to apples here. My house is 1500 sqft, 2 story with a basement, constructed 2005. I have my stove set at 70, feed rate at 3 and when its in the teens, I do about a bag and a half a day, when it's in the 20-30's out, I can manage with a bag, maybe a tad more. I'm burning O'Malleys. The main level is right around 69.5 to 70.5 and the upstairs is around 65 (we like the bedrooms cooler for sleeping).

I had my house built house in '87. I am heating 1250 sq. ft. downstairs. I am able to shut off two rooms upstairs limiting the heated area to 450 sq. ft. I am using Greenway brand hardwood pellets. I have attached the temp probe to the wall, four feet from the corner (my stove sets in a corner) 42" above the floor. This is my third day. Still using feed rate of 4 (in room temp) but this morning changed blower speed to HI and temp setting to 67. It is currently 17 degs. I used furnace from midnight to 6am this morning as I was concerned about pipes freezing. I have been keeping the temp setting on the stove down to 65 to try to limit pellet usage. Even with that it seems to burn close to two bags a day. Outside temps were in mid 20s yesterday. One problem we have had since Friday is power outages from an ice storm (nine hours from Friday night to Saturday morning) and two more after. Those lasted several hours each. Each time I have to switch over to my portable generator and the stove has to start back up, etc. So...maybe the last two days is not a good start up trial for a 'new' stove owner. Does feed rate 4 and blower on HI sound ok?

Awesome and congrats! I'll let the rest of them bust yer cohones

Thats a real nice, clean install you have....should burn great. Thanks for the pics.

Enjoy the heat!

BTW, hard to tell from the interior pic, but did you get the sensor probe off the floor? Also, have you installed a surge protector on the stove yet? Some pretty sensitive electronics in it that don't like surges & spikes in the power.

Great looking install and stove. Congratulations and stay warm !!!!!

Thanks for the comments.

I will install a surge protector as soon as the stove shuts down. Thanks.

The temp probe is currently on the wall on the right side at approx. 42" off the floor (should show in the picture). I still am trying to find the best location. At noon today I backed my feed rate just below 4, increased the blower speed to high and set temp to 68ish. The stove seemed to cruise and temp stayed at 67 in the hall and 65 upstairs. My thermostat is in the hall 25' from the stove. Outside temp was 35 at noon after a low of 17. Yesterday the high was 26. I really like the performance of the stove today.
