i am having no issue with starting the stove and it is burning fine. i never had a draft issue as well with the other stove i just did it cuz i had so many problems with the stove and thought thats why is wasn't everburning. because there wasn't enough air and then thought that might be the issue. this stove is working absolutely great. the wood always looked like it was burning good in the other stove as well its just the hell i went through with it i thought it was maybe why i needed it on the other one. i never get smoke in my face and the new load of wood takes off right of way. i was just wondering what advantage i would get? i really mean everything seems great to me with the way its working. im still in amazement

Dont bother if it's working fine, don't fix it. Besides I've done the OAK for a basement install and if you run the pipe up the wall and out that cold air will push into the stove causing reduced burn times and cool the stove off sooner. You also have to look at that ugly pipe! Sounds like your happy and made the right decision, keep experimenting and learn your stove.

yeah im so happy i cant stop talking about it to anyone. haha. my wife keeps nagging at me cuz i keep talking about it. there really is no comparison to the other stove this thing is a caddy. def not adding the oak. when i remodel if it becomes to tight ill prob just dump the fresh air right behind the stove or suttin. but i dont think theres an issue.

Welcome to the BK family! Amazing stove, isn't it? I have yet to reload mine more than twice in one day, regardless of temps, and it has no problem keeping the house nice and comfy. I know BB and some of the others get sick of hearing about this 'stove of the month', but until you get a chance to live with one, folks can't possibly understand how great this thing really is... it's about as hassle free as wood burning gets! Fill it once or twice a day, set the thermostat and walk away from it. Oh yeah, you also have to empty the ash about once every month or two. :cheese:

BTW, where are you in CT?

yeah it really is a remarkable stove. i still am an awe as i have said a hundred times. its just insane. i to have been only loading twice a day. except for one day this weekend because of the extreme cold weather (and my wife wanting more heat). but i could have gotten away with it. its just learning the thermostat where to leave it to maintain temps on my 1st floor. im finding just below 2 during the night and 1.5 for the daytime. cooking it on 2.5 or or 3 for the first 20 to 45 minutes depending on how cold it is help get that heat up fast then crank her down to 2 or lower to maintain the heat. i cant believe also how spotless the glass stays as well. i dont have a spec of black on there at all. just crystal clear after 8 straight days of runnin her hard. on my other stove it would have so much ash an junk stuck to it you couldnt even see in there.

Also im in bristol, ct about 20 minutes from hartford. Are you from CT, and where about?

It is a great stove. I have a King, so I'm able to a little further on each load, but they're very similar otherwise.

I live right by Hammonasset, so not too far from you.

Yeah not to far like45 min
