Looking to try a bag of these. Anyone know where I can buy some in So. NH or close by.

Last time I checked, Middleton Lumber in Hampton had them.

Good pellets don't last long, burned 20 bags and loved them.

Nope...just NEWP now.

Yeah, I think that they are going all NEWP in all their locations. A friend burned a ton of NEWP, seemed ok but not great for heat. Alot of fluffy ash, no clinkers at all.

Don't know if you are set on trying Spruce Points, but Home and Hearth in Hampton Falls has a good selection right now..
Okies, Dragon, Rockies and NEWP. Dodges Agway has Corinth and Cubex

If you're near the south western part of NH, Spurias in Ashburnham MA had them last time I checked.

I think they are out of Spruce Points, but I'll check, I'm actually going there in a few minutes to pick up some Okies they're storing for me.

:)

They have them at the Middletons in Dover/Somersworth. I like to get them at Greatworks BioFuel in Berwick Maine, as they leave them inside. Don't worry about the Maine sales tax...no tax on fuel. They are $269 per ton and very good to deal with. Not sure where you are but its about 10-15 minutes from Dover, go through South Berwick and head down rt 4. Check out their website www.greatworksbiofuel.com Prices and brans on the website have not been updated. Prices are lower now and they carry the Spruce Points and Cornith not the brands listed.

Home and Hearth in Hampton Falls does have some good brands (Dragon Mtn, Okanagans, Rocky Mountains) but they don't seem to be dropping their prices with the rest of the market.

I ran out of pellets this weekend and couldn't make it over there. I stopped at Home Depot and Wal-Mart and both were out of stock. What a joke.

As joe mentioned, Greatworks BioFuel in Berwick Maine would good to deal with as they are kept inside. If I buy bulk in the spring, it will probably be from there. I did get 5 bags of Spruce Points at Middleton Lumber in Middleton. Was not impressed with them being stored outside and covered in snow. Dover did not have them at the time (3 weeks ago) and they were the ones that said they prefer to stock one brand: NEWP.

Regarding Home and Hearth for Okies, their bag price is high, but I thought the ton price was 269 as well. That's if I am remembering right......

Funny story about Middleton's. I went in there a few months ago and but a few bags of Spruce Point to test. I go around to the side of the building and rumage through the pallet to finf 3 bags that aren't open and wet and toss them into my car. As I am getting into my car a worker walks buy and says the good pellets are over there. I asked him what they were he said "I don't know they're in a green bag." I went back a few weeks later and found out they were New England Pellets.
I'd say New England Pellets are better than average (compared to the junk at Home Depot or Wal-Mart) but I haven't heard thats burned both claim they are in the same leauge as Spruce Pointes. I laughed pretty hard. You'd think if you didn't know what you were talking about you wouldn't give an opinion (especially when you weren't asked). I wonder how many people stay away from the Spruce Pointes because they're told there not as good buy someone with no clue.

If they are NEWP and in a green bag, you missed a rare opportunity to purchase Pinnacle Canadian softwood pellets bagged by NEWP last year. They are no longer rebagging in the Palmer facility and I can attest that the NEWP "Green Supreme" was a great pellet. The Worker there knows what he is talking about. Search Green Supreme and you will get more info.

If I could buy them close...and a reasonable price....I'd load up twice!

Spurias in Ashburnham, MA is sold out of Spruce Points and I forgot to ask them if they are getting more in...oops.

I agree with keep-in warm, that worker knew what he was talking about.
I never tried the Spruce Points, but IMO the Green Supremes are an awesome pellet. Been burning
them for a few years now and love em. If the price was reasonable, I would have grabbed them
in a heartbeat.

Jan99... Were they out of them? I'm currently having great luck with the Okies. Do you happen to know the price per ton at Spurias now?

Thanks

Hi Ladderlieu,

Yup, they are out of Spruce Points and I forgot to ask if they were getting more in.

I had bought a ton of Okies for $250 from them and took them up on the free indoor storage they offer.
This works great for us at the moment.

Also, WR Bentley in Barre is now selling Okies. He is my (forlorn lol) oil guy. He quoted a price of $260/ton delivered. (I live in the next town over, perhaps the delivery fee will vary with distance...not sure). But give him a call too. (978) 355-2250

Nice people at both places.

Oh and fyi Higgins Energy (also in Barre) called me today to say they lowered their pellet prices. We bought our stove from them. I just mailed the 'customer satisfaction' survey back to them. I had jokingly wrote on the survey, "lower your pellet prices" Guess they did... LOLOLOL Anyways, they have Turmans for $279/ton. I really liked the Turman pellet too.

I don't think they were the Green Supremes. I have tried the Dragon Mtn though. Very good pellets. I can't say I could pick a definative winner between the Spruce Points, Okanagans and Dragon Mountains.

Jay's test has them Okanagans 262 °F , Spruce Pointe 259 °F , Dragon Mtn 255 °F . I'd buy any of the 3. I go with the Spruce Pointes because they're closer to pick up and Greatworks will let you buy a pallet and leave it in his storage so you can pick up as needed or if you wanted to take them home in 3 trips on the way by from work over a few days (Can't get a pallet in a Blazer.....probobly 20 bags though).
