I just had this thing installed over the summer and this is my first season with it. I'm having a problem with the thermostat just goes blank on me you have to remove it from the wall and put it back on. They have replaced the thermostat and that didn't fix it. Last week they replaced the power supply module. Yesterday they came out and replaced the thermostat base and that didn't fix it. They have no clue and the only way they know how to fix it is by throwing new parts into hoping that one of them will fix it.

The stove started out great. Two weeks ago I woke up to a cold house and got the vacuum error message. I just unplugged it and it fired up with no problem. Last week I woke up to another cold house and I saw the auger jam error, so I unplugged it and it fired up. I feel like bringing my cb 1200 back upstairs (i put it in the basement) I didn't have these problems with that. When running the mount vernon does a great job heating. I'm just so fustrated with this stove. Ok I feel better now.

As dumb as this may sound, try lifting up on the thermostat wires where they connect to the back of the stove. I am told that sometimes helps with thermostat errors.

They tried to sell me a MT AE, when I was shown all it could do, I said no thanks, too much to go wrong.

Have you tried what I suggested in this thread? https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/51334/

How do you clean it? Are you vacuuming out the 2 areas at the bottom of the heat exchangers? You need a vacuum cleaner hose attachment to do this. If these areas are plugged the stove could kick out vacuum error. Have you check the vacuum switch to be sure it isn't faulty? I have had some of these go bad. The black piece attached to the silver box should not move at all. As said in the other post the wire tie one the t stat wires from the block to the board does cause issues with the t stat, have you removed the tie?

I feel your pain. I had every issue imaginable with my MT. Vernon until the dealer finally decided to exchange the stove. Hopefully your dealer will take care of you but it certainly is a pain to have to go through all of this. Have you asked at what point will they exchange the stove?

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to open it up tomorrow and cut off the black tie. I keep the stove very clean I've had the baffle off twice and I vaccummed everything. Its not just one thing that brings down this stove its a serious of little gremlins.

My mount vernon AE did this repeatedly before I mounted the thermostat on the wall (last year). When it was placed nearby on a fixture it seemed to be much more prone to static electricity. I am by no means saying this is your problem but I have found that my blank thermostat problems have completely disappeared since mounting the thermostat on the wall. When it was not mounted on the wall I sometimes had to unplug/plug the stove just to get it out of its funk! From your post I can see you have already mounted it on the wall, I hope your dealer/Quadra fire finds the problem... it really isn't a bad stove when it operates correctly!

Pull out your thermostat and toss it out and get a Skytech remote unit , you'll be able to control your unit from anywhere, or just set the remote on the table, and set it for the THERMO mode and set the temperature you like. I love mine.

mt vernon will only work with the supplied thermostat from quad.

what color is the sooty buildup on the glass is it a tannish brown or a brownish Black

I had an issue with my control panel on my Mt. Vernon AE earlier this year where is was constantly rebooting. I finally figured out that I needed to keep the control panel wire away from the power supply cord. The control panel is very finicky when hear anything that might cause interference.

Easy way to fix it....get a Harman P68 and enjoy a warm house. Not trying to be a smart-ass, but Harman's bottom feeding mechanism and simple design mean fewer things to go wrong.

I feel your pain SteveG. I have serviced a few mt vernons did not like the complexity of them from the getgo. to may systems and to many electronics that were not tested before release. that is evident by the # of revisions. they are the best burning and by far the quietest stove when they are working right, but they are the worst and most expensive when they decide to break, which is often

So far knock on wood its running good. Yesterday I opened it up and cut that black tie and I checked and cleaned the connection on the back of the stove. When this stove is running good nothing else heats like it. When you crank this thing up it will blow you out of the house even on the coldest nights. Thanks for all your replies.
