tried to start my Whitfield Advantage III today. Lights came on as usual; seconds later they went out. Nothing else seemed to happen. Assuming it's the control board. How do you test that?

So when you hit the start button no fans come on, but you have lights in the heat and fan areas on the board?

The little black buttons on the front of the board are test points to check for voltage from the board to the fans and auger. Pop those little buttons off, and if you have a voltage meter connect the negative to ground and the positive to each of the other points to check for voltage. If the voltage isn't at the test points you most likely have a bad board. Make sure your meter is in AC not DC mode ;-)

Do you use a surge protector on your stove. If you don't you need to start. I think you have a bad board.
