Wife turned off the stove today around noon as usual using the OFF button.
Came home and did the daily cleaning of burn pot and glass. Turned it on and bottom auger is not turning, I can hear the top auger running.

I will call Englander in the morning.

I replaced the combustion blower at the begining of this season.
Don't tell me the bottom auger went bad because I will be very pissed off.......!!! :-(

..

Geek, this is right from Englander TroubleShooting on their website:

"Lower auger not turning. If the lower auger is not turning the following should be checked;

1. Is the auger physically jammed? Foreign objects such as wood chips or other objects that may have somehow gotten into the pellets.

2. Is the motor getting power? If the motor is getting power it will get fairly hot quickly. If the motor is getting power but is not running and the auger is not jammed, the motor is bad.

If the motor is not getting power, either the motor's wires or the control board are bad.

Another possibility is if the electric motor is running but the auger is not turning, this could be a loose setscrew holding the motor to the auger, or a stripped gear in the gearbox. A stripped gear would mean the auger motor must be replaced."

Geek, My lower auger quit Saturday nite so sunday I checked it for power when running, which was ok(120 volts AC),removed auger according to manual, removed armature from motor(2 screws, that could have been done without taking motor off stove) and found that the armature was turning very hard in its bushing. So I removed the bushing from the armature, flushed it out with WD40, blasted it out with some compressed air then greased it up with some isoflex grease (i use this on engine bearings, but probaly most good greases would have worked) Re assembled it all and bench tested it before installing back on stove. So far so good, auger has been running since sunday....I am going to order one of the Gleason Avery motors(A901) this week just in case.....(wow is there alot of info on auger-motors on this site)And also i want to add that this is my first issue with the stove and has been about 15 months since i installed it....

it is getting power, place screwdriver on the black side and could feel the magnetic.

Auger cost around $130.00 !!

This is ONLY my 2nd season with this f#$%@ stove and I already replaced the combustion blower and upper auger in the past.

I am SO disappointed with this stove..!!!! I want to sell it..!!

Chances are the spacer bushing has worn out on the motor. Remove the two outermost torque screws to remove the motor axle. You will find either a green or purple spacer, clean out the spacer and axle, WD-40 the barrell and put it back together. If that doesn't do the trick there are other things to try. This will usually get you another couple of years.

will give that a try when I get home later, thanks.

removed that but didn't see any blue/purple spacer, just a little plastic cap at the end of the rod that slides in and out of the rod.

I guess i'm gonna have to take the plunge and order the f#$%^&& part...!!

Geek..I installed this one a few weeks ago... http://www.cshincorporated.com/product_info.php/products_id/10184 ... so far so good but like I said, I've only had it a few weeks....

I assume the motor is good for both the 25-PDVC and the 25-PDV.

Any difference in noise that you noticed or any other problems at all?

There's a cheapo motor on the other thread for around $18 plus shipping but haven't seen anyone providing feedback, maybe not worth it.

.

took the plunge and ordered the Gleason-Avery A901 online.
Around $91 including shipping.

From what I gather from the few feedback I think this motor is very good and well built, let's see when I install it.

The new one I got is super quiet....can't hear it run at all....way different from the MK motors

My lower auger motor just died yesterday on my 55-shp10. #%$@!!!!

My stove is only 2 years old. Needless to say I'm not all to happy about dropping $130 on a stove that is not all that old. Wish I found this thread before I ordered from Englander. I would have gave one of those other, less expensive, motors a try. Seeing as how Englander's $130 one doesn't seem to be too reliable.

help me guys
englander 25pvdc
lower auger motor quit, found a replacement von wiese v003
lookes identical but turns backwards i think
shouldn't the auger turn ccw as viewed through the door

Yes. However, there are some auger motors that can be reversed.....not sure yours is one of them. It involves turning the "stack" (big thick stack of metal plates) over.

Thanks, I don't think I can reverse this one. The stack is thicker one way than the other. Thought it was right when I bought it, Thats what I get for trying to think for myself. should have looked you guys up a long time ago. Tons of good info here.

hey mac, these englander have the auger turning clockwise if you look at the stove from the front, right?

I just don't remember, I order mine yesterday and it was shipped today.

.

No, looking at it from the front, both the augers turn counter-clock wise.

crap, I asked/told them my auger runs clockwise...!!!!
