Well I knew I had plenty of wood for this winter, but last night I remembered this thread so I went out with my handy dandy tape measure to make some computations.

So far I've burned 3 - 3 1/2 cords of wood this year . . . leaving me with 6-7 cords still in the woodshed . . . and another 3-4 cords (rough guess) seasoning in the Holtz Miete and traditional stacks out front from cutting and splitting last Fall.

We have burned almost 2.5 cords, of 2 year old mixed hardwood, since Oct. 1st. We burn 24/7 and the boiler hasn't come on for heating yet! We have 2.5 cords left, so we should be set. Average house temps are 75-80 downstairs and 70-75 upstairs, in our 1820 sq.ft. cape.
We thank the woodstove gods for creating this masterpiece of space heating! (A.K.A. Pacific Energy Alderlea T-6) Can't say enough about this stove, surpassed all our expectations. Pours on the heat when we need it and gently warms when we don't. Bring on the cold temps!!

Started late this year...Dec 16th

I have burned about 2 face cords. :cheese:

Average about 1/3 of a face cord per week (give or take)

If I remember correctly I have about 13 full cords.

Of that, 10 cords are seasoned for close to 20 months and the other 3 have been cut, split, and stacked sense Summer 2009.

Will cease burning 24/7 on February 25th 2010 for cervical spine surgery. So if I burn a full cord this year I will be lucky. :eek:hh:

In my "Sophomore" year of burning, there have been some lessons learned. I had a cord and a half of hardwood "chilling" from last year, that needed some more seasoning. Bought 2 cords on craigslist in March 2009 for $300. I burned about that much last year. Well, the wood from craigslist was probably under 2 cord, and likely not hardwood. I am down to 3/4 of a cord of that hardwood, which is nice for right now, but it won't last the month, not even close. This means I have to get wood from my father-in-law, who has 25 yrs worth of wood, and will give it to me. The downside is that I may strangle him to death in the process :). I never wanted it to come to this. I may order five cords this year and I won't be cheap either. You get what you pay for with firewood, just like everything else, I guess...

Burned 1/2 cord of seasoned mixed wood I split in July.
With the above I also went through almost 1/2 ton of biobricks.
What a great combo...wood and biobricks!

~ Have 2.5 cords left...most of it unseasoned

Burned 1 ton of pellets (50 40lb bags).
No more pellets left...I think I will rely on natural gas heat for the remaining heat requirement of that wing of the house based on nat gas prices vs pellets (pellet prices still high in MA $249/ton).

Measured up my remaining stack...50 ft + 1 face cord moved inside. I have 2.72 cord of wood left. Started with 6 cord stacked in one long row....128 ft. Looks like we're right on schedule...

The daylight is lasting longer....we may make it. :)

I used about 1 1/2 cords since the beginning of October. I went through 3 cords annually in the past, but it looks like I will use less this year despite the much colder weather. I think I have dryer wood and the knowledge I gained from this site to thank for that.

Burning 24/7 since mid november, so about 3fc burned and 8fc in the wood shed. And25fc in two stacks in the woods.

It's been ridiculously warm here. Almost 60 today. The grass is growing, buds are starting to pop and flowers starting to bloom. Thus we have about 2 cords still remaining out of the 4 we started off with this winter.

OK, that's it BeGreen . . . we need pics to prove these "allegations" of yours :) . . . pics of the flowers in bloom, grass growing, etc. . . . if nothing else something to remind those of us in the bleak and barren areas of Maine that Spring will be on the way sooner or later. Right now we're in limbo . . . not enough snow for nice winter-scapes and not enough warmth to bring anything to life . . . just a lot of brown and gray.
