I'd leave them alone. The frozen ice isn't hurting anything, and like you said, even if it melts, there's another layer of fairly heavy plastic behind that.

I'd get rid of it. Lets put it this way. Home depot stores their pellets outside( hence your ice and snow) When I got mine some of the bags inside still opened making the pellets into kitty litter. Remove the problem and you don't need the protection since they are indoors. IMHO

Saratoga Springs both Home Depot and Lowes have dropped their per ton price from $249 to $229. When the price was $249 per ton the individual bag price was $4.98 now it is $5.98. :bug: Lowes has their own Label "Clean something or other" HD has some Penningtons and lots of Greene Team pellets. Meanwhile back at BJ's Okies are still $249 per ton and $4.98 per bag.
I will check in Bennington, Vt early in the week.
Okies rock!! Especially when it is this cold...below zero overnight again.

yep....un-shrink wrap 'em. When I got mine home today and unloaded them there were three bags that had small pin holes in them and there were small, softball like frozen pellet chunks in each bag. I opened each one and removed the softballs....all good now ;-)

Strange to see nothing cheap in Ct HD's, as there cheap right over the border, if anyone spots's $179 pellets in CT post it here.

I just bought 3 tons yesterday and every one was a different manuf. I am burning the winter warmth now and they are burning very hot probably the hottest so far with no ash or clinkers so you might have to look for the blue labels for winter warmth Good luck

Eddie

few weeks ago I was at the lowes in Manchester, NH, they had their pellet pallets two deep, from the store, under the awning, the outer stacks of pellets were already obviously ruined by the rain/snow that had gotten inside the plastic wrap, I wonder if they are selling those cheap now?

Just stopped in the Torrington HD on 202. Still $247.99/ton and they only had Fireside Ultra's

With pellet prices dropping all over, You would think they would be dropping too! Maybe after this here cold snap we are in. Saw a few people pushing carts out with a few bags of them.

Me I am not buying nada until I see a drop! There are much better deals than what Our CT. HD's have right now!

I brought two tons of the Presto Logs from Home depot. So far three bags thrown out out of five. I suggest anyone who took "advantage" of this sale to open a few bags and think about returning them.

I got 3 tons. Just opened the first ton to test them. I still have a ton of cleanfires from my last years purchase. So far, the one bag of presto's that I got burn cleaner, hotter and have MUCH less fines in the bags. Where did you get yours from? Why did you throw 3 bags out? Were they wet?

Got them from the Home Depot in Poughkeepsie. My first two bags were good too. I'm assuming moisture is the culprit in all three but certainly in two of them. The third one I'm in the process of burning now( i didn't even put the other two in the machine). The burn grate filled up with so much partially burned pellets it was overflowing into the fire box. Hence had more fire outside the burn grate than inside telling the stove i needed more pellets and further compounding the issue. I had been using Warm Front pellets from a dealer in Kinderhook with absolutely no issues but "the price was right". Grrrrrr

I got mine from Pok Home Depot too. Wonder if I should inspect mine better. Now you've got me worried. Are you going to complain to them?

I'm gonna see how many more bags are bad. I'll try about 10. The way I see it is they were about 1/2 price so if I lose a few bags its not a big deal. More than a few bags, Oh yea. I'm gonna complain

Keep me posted please. If this ends up being a common thing, we can gang up on them.

Yeah he said $65 no matter how many tons. I'd probably get 3 tons which should last me next year. Not sure what kind they are, but he said all hard wood and low ash. I'll find out.

Yeah and if you believe that... I have a bridge For Sale...!!!

That price is correct, same price no matter how much you order. As long as it all fits on the same truck.

I know Poughkeepsie and Kingston were selling them for that price. Not sure about wappingers or fishkill, but I'm sure anyone who had them at that price is sold out.

They could be Curran pellets. I have heard they are selling them at a cheap price right now to run stock down. They would only be in NY areas because Curran is in NY up near the Canada border so shipping cost would be lower also. Just an idea not sure if it is true. I have heard that Curran is working on the pellet to make it better so the HD pellets if that brand might be good but I would say its always better to buy a few bags and see what they are like.
